Odds are very high that's exactly what it was due to his use of iTunes Match. It was Match users that were the most likely to have issues with the new Apple Music .itl file being corrupt. I never used Match and I didn't have any problems with my music library on update.

    Ah, the good old days...

You are like one of those 50 year old men who always brag about how awesome a quarterback he was in high school.

Stop living in the past. If you dont like what Apple has become go ahead and switch to Android.

I mean seriously. A dude with 30,000 songs does not back up his files when converting to a whole new software? Are you serious! Only an idiot would not back up such a massive collection.

Sog, go home and kick your own dog.

Well it obviously is confusing to enough people hence why iMore and Macworld have written FAQ's on his all this works. http://www.macworld.com/article/2943703/how-itunes-match-and-apple-music-work-together.html
That's what Macworld does and has done since its' inception. Macworld has always had this sort of thing for most Apple hardware and services. Have you ever subscribed to the magazine?

The very first issue of MacWorld was packed in the first shipments of the very first Macs. I was lucky enough to get one with my Mac 128K. I couldn't believe what a fantastic thing Apple had built.

I subscribed for years until they went digital. Everything that was in the magazine would eventually wind up on their site (usually within a month). I saw no point continuing my sub. They didn't offer anything extra for subscribers.

Even Don Melton thinks Apple Music is a complete Hindenberg disaster.

You mean it went down...like a lead zeppelin?

    I don't doubt he's correct!

However what he fails to mention, or knowledge, is that there are millions of iOS users that have not subscribed to Pandora and never would have!  I downloaded it, used the app a few times, but never even considered subscribing.  Today I am signed-up to Apple Music and will likely continue after the three month period ends.

I'm simply not on Mr. McAndrews radar and never have been!  He's never done anything to interest me in his services and his assertion that there's been "no impact yet" indicative of his feelings to me and other millions of non-Pandora users. I'll give him the fact that, with people disliking change, he will keep ALL his current users.  However if Apple can attract more users like me they'll be just fine.

How about creating a new playlist? It is awkward to say the least that you cannot create one directly from a song
