Ahhhh so the undiplomatic one was you. Next time don't paraphrase. I was unfamiliar with what he said, and when he said it, so I went with what you wrote. My bad
Pathetic. Your intense dislike of Steve Jobs clearly comes through.
I admit I'm wrong and you choose to insult me. Show me where I said I disliked him. The most I've ever said was that he was mistaken. If that makes me an iconoclast then so be it.
1) You continue to ignore the fact that this was set before Watch was ever demoed nearly a year ago. Are you saying that Cook decided to launch and market a product he knew would be a "failure"? Come on!
2) You keep ignoring the fact that Apple TV was demoed twice (even going so far as to not even have a proper name the first time) with a simpler lead time between coming to market, and has yet to ever be broken out on their SEC filings.
I'm not ignoring anything. My argument is if the numbers were great and there was a financial benefit to releasing them they would have been released. I'm not a mind reader but I can speculate why Cook made this decision before the product was released. This was a major product release, his first major product release, so my guess is he said he wasn't going to release the numbers just in case this product didn't take off right away. History wasn't favorable on wearable technology which I why I believe Apple pre marketing focused on fashion more so then technology.
So you say your not going to release the numbers then if it's a blockbuster you release the number no one will remember or care about the original statement, if it isn't then you just fall back on your original pre release statement.
Are you actually trying to tell me if the watch sold 15-20m units they wouldn't have released the numbers? Even more so knowing they missed the whisper on the iPhone? How about if they sold 100m units do you still believe they wouldn't have released the numbers?
Apple pushed the pre-marketing of this product hard, the reason for that it's a hard sell getting someone to buy a product that has so much to overcome. The screen size limits apps that can truly be used. Native apps are fairly good the 3rd party are limited and most are awful. The watch is redundant seeing it pulls most of it's data from an iPhone. Many of the most devoted Apple fans on this forum don't even own one yet.
The reality is there is no logical or rational reason not to release good numbers, the BS about competition is just that BS, there is no real competition. The iPhone is the most copied product in history yet they release numbers as fast as they can after a new on is released.
The server on which this forum resides is about the only place on earth that believes the Apple Watch is selling well.

LOL what an amazing number of logical fallacies in one post.
Loving my ?Watch so far. Going to try out the Sleep Pulse sleep tracking app tonight. I haven't found anything confusing about the interface other than glances and notifications not available when you're on the app constellation. I think Apple should make those available everywhere just for consistency sake. Also boneheaded me spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get podcast audio to my Bluetooth headphones. Finally after 10 minutes the lightbulb went off and I realized I needed to pair the headphones on my iPhone. Man I can't wait until more than just music can be stored locally on device.
Maybe you didn't actually read what I posted. I never said Cook lied or even attempted to lie, he simply refuses to release numbers instead he lumps them in with "other products". Some on this forum will try to justify any excuse to defy any reasonable logic the numbers just aren't there.
The pre market push on this watch was one of the largest I've seen Apple do ever. An announcement followed six months later by an event, articles, magazine covers, before it was release high profile people wearing them, clearly given to them before launch. All this to group it with other products? Yeah that's logical.
Apple created this monster with their own hype.
try reading the thread. there is solid reason for apple not to release sales data for a brand new product.
again: Cook said they're doing well on the call. you and other trolls suggest the product is failing. if i had to choose between an exec for a public company who is killing it, and some anonymous dude on the internet, well...you know the rest.
It's interesting that so many Watch owners here have bought an extra charger even though the battery far exceeds any other Apple product on the market.
I have had an extra Mac notebook charger and absolutely have an iPhone charger at home, in my car, as well as an extra cable in my computer bag.
I'm not sure I need an extra Watch charger even though earlier wOS 2.0 betas did seem to use power in double time.
What I would like to have, is a battery backup for Watch, like I have for my iPhone. I keep a little cylinder battery backup on hand in case I'm, going to be away from a typical power source for more than, say, 12 hours in a day. I just bring the battery and my Lightning cable. I can also bring my watch cable in this rare instance, but I think I'd like some sort of wrist device that will charge while wearing but not necessary a new band. I wonder if for hiking/camping something like that be good for a week or more, perhaps with a solar panel or kinetic device for the wrist that will charge whilst walking. Perhaps for your phone, too.
yeah we bought all the chargers from Day 1, but haven't ever used the others, just the nightly charging.
thats a meaningless comment, because you're trying to defend your argument that its ironic that he died, despite the fact that he didn't say he would outlive them, but just that as a user base they would die off.
I think I have a valid point. I also don't think it's a sound business strategy if the success of your product depends on people dying. A lot can change between now and then.
don't think anybody at apple needs your input on sound business strategy. considering they're the most successful public company in, you know, human history. and all.

there are almost 200 messages on this thread, and i read them from the beginning, not the end. sorry that you're having to repeatedly deal with your error.
I understand it. I also understand its a failure on the part of Cook. To allow analysts and the markets to speculate sales numbers on a product that was hyped this much is idiotic.
Apple did mention the watch outsold the iPhone and iPad did in their first nine weeks. That should be good enough for analysts. After all, even that tidbit is more than what Amazon gives and it's Wall Street's favorite.
Btw, WS will speculate even if they had actual numbers.
The segment turned a profit, probably due to the Beats headphones not Apple Watch.
Except that Luca said OVER 100% of the quarter over quarter change in "other" was due to ?Watch. We don't know how profitable "other" is as Apple doesn't report profits by product segment.
We may be, at least in part. But what about the average consumer? This is clearly targeted at convincing the average consumer that the Apple Watch is undesirable. It is our job to wake people up to the reality that this is, pure and simple, propaganda.
If the average consumer gave a hoot about what was written about technology then iPhone sales would have crashed to zero about three years ago.

Well, it's
I have been as guilty as anyone ... But is there a topic here ?
Well, it's been fun to read, anyway.
Something about 2 Ms and 2 Qs, oh and FUD flinging.

Does anyone know if ASE is the sole supplier. Probably not, since Apple wouldn't want to have a bottleneck or reliance on a single supplier.

That's classic coming from a guy that died before 'these people' did. Oh the irony.
What's ironic is that you don't know what irony is.
