Classy? What a sad bunch of attention-deprived little shits.
Actually this will probably end up publicizing Apple to their customer base. Throwing hate on Apple to people already using Tidal is a net waste of time, since these people are already using Tidal. All they did was remind their customers that Drake and Apple are best buds.
Oh, come on! What an ignorant statement, show me a business that isn't about making money. It is likely that Apple's profits on it's new music service in the first year will far exceed all of the profits that Jay Z or Tidal have ever realized. Tidal's service offers plenty to enjoy, especially to those who can appreciate good sound quality (cue the theorists that say you can't hear the difference between 256 AAC and anything higher).
People who say "but but but Apple needs competition" never complain that Tidal needs competition. Why is that?
Except Apple won't pursue it because Tidal are probably correct. Why would they lie?
Are people genuinely surprised that Apple engages in confidential NDA-like negotiations? We hear it all the time. Tidal probably can't reveal these negotiations for fear of being sued.
Apple are like Scientology in their secrecy and propensity to sue.
Except that Tidal didn't make the deal with Apple, so how can Apple sue them for an NDA they'd didn't sign?
There is nothing preventing Tidal from revealing the full details of the 'cease and desist' emails they received from Apple … unless, of course, the said emails don't exist.
It looks like Future didn't allow the transmission, and Tidal saw the opportunity for a bit of much-needed publicity so they decided to try to drag Apple's name into it.

Likely you would fail a blind ABX test of iTunes 256 AAC encoding of 16/44 CD source just like almost everyone else does, This "improved sound quality" is what Pono and Tidal are pushing and why both will fail; almost all of their buyers can't tell the difference. So even if you are that singularly exceptional audiophile, their businesses are still going to fail in the market.
Since Drake knew he had an exclusive contract with Apple for $19 million, why did he choose to participate with an event that could be in conflict with the contract? He could have attended the event to support his friends' performances and donated money to the charity.
Tidal probably does have emails showing communications between Apple and Drake/Future, but will not publish the emails because the emails did not involve Tidal directly, Drake/Futre would be hurt publicly for knowingly breaking the lucrative contract and for being gullible enough to show the emails to Tidal.
Drake/Future got screwed over by their friends at Tidal who are starving for any attention they can get.
If there was a poll showng how many people knew about this event BEFORE/AFTER Apple was brought into the story, the AFTER numbers would be greater than the BEFORE numbers. Tidal's "classy" publicity stunt worked.
Now look for stories about the DOJ and FTC opening an investigation into the matter against Apple by Friday, September 4, 2015. I would actually go with by Monday, August 31, 2015.
Rule of business: don't blame your shortcomings on anyone else, especially not your competitor. Your failings are your own. It's called business. If Drake didn't have the right to live stream, then he shouldn't have gone forward with the deal. Period. Sounds like Tidal or Future didn't read the contracts they signed and are now blaming "the man". Reminds me of people that complain about banks and how they are forced to pay outrageous interest on mortgages because of "the man". Don't sign the contract then, idiots.

If tidal got a letter they can publish it. If not Apple should sue for slander.
If tidal got a letter they can publish it. If not Apple should sue for slander.
So do you think they will sue?
Personally I think both Apple and Tidal will avoid commenting, or in the case of Tidal commenting further. I suspect there's some grain of truth in there somewhere but not perhaps anything cut and dried, so neither side will want to get into it much.
Drake has sold over 5 million albums worldwide.[6] His work has earned him a Grammy Award, three Juno Awards, six BET Awards, and set several significant Billboard records. With twelve number-one singles, Drake has more than any other artist on Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart. With ten number-one singles, he also has more than any other rapper on Billboard??'?s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, passing Jay-Z in August 2012.[7] He is one of two artists (the other being 50 Cent) that has simultaneously occupied the chart's top three positions.

To try and create bad feelings towards Apple to attempt to bolster Tidal who aren't doing as well.
This is the new East Coast v West Coast hip-hop war.
Perhaps they should solve it with a game of 'Hop-Scotch'?
I'm not sure, since those original gangsta rappers are so old now they may need a 'hip' replacement.

Why would Apple even be able to sue over Tidal streaming Drake's set?
If they could legitimately sue, then where do Tidal get off whining about Big Brother if they/Drake would be acting in breach of some contract.
Quote:
OK, let's see those threatening emails.
I can't help wondering if this is some PR Stunt by Drake's (who?) Record Label to 'big-up' their artist.
I have limited knowledge of how this live streaming works, but let me ask:
1) How can Apple (or any other company) directly influence the performance of the content delivery network? (Akamai, Level3, etc.)
Edit: deleted second part of post.

Woman-beating Dr. Dre and classy?
See what I did there ....?

i remember a phrase when i was growing up: blame it on the government. i think it is time to rephrase it: blame it on apple.
