Looks really slick! These are going to sell like hotcakes IMO. Kinda funny to think about all of the people laughing at MSFT charging $100 for their keyboard, then Apple goes and charges $169 for one.
Looks really cool & productive. Great use cases for both consumer and business (and creatives). Definitely this breathes new life & vigour into the iPad lineup.
That said, not expecting this to significantly boost unit sales - should help on ASP and potentially margins. No update to the Air line will push a few more to the Pro, but likely detract from any overall increase in units.
Looking forward to the future where support for the stylus comes to a new Air size device (which is I think perfect for overall mobile use, especially its weight).
Dude. Keyboards have been around since the beginning of computers.
Like I said there were keyboards for the iPad way before the surface came out.
Please provide a link to an Apple made keyboard case prior to the Surface being released.
It's just ironic that this iPad Pro takes so many cues from the Surface and looked a lot like it too especially after Apple has justifiably gone after others who make products that look like Apple's
Awesome for people into music production. Now you can have two full-sized Apps on the screen (iPad Pro in portrait, both Apps in landscape one on top of the other). You can leave your DAW on the bottom and swap out other Apps on top for recording, effects and so on.
128GB + Pencil, in Gold, for me. Can do without the keyboard (or, my family can give it to me for Christmas).
This will recharge iPad sales in a HUGE way, for Apple. Enterprise use will be massive.
Hardware looks great, but I am worried about the limitations of iOS in the enterprise. As long as there is no decent file manager on iOS for the data files, (not for the the internal OS stuff because that is irrelevant) I remain skeptical about deep penetration in the enterprise. In the past I tried to use an iPad only for managing my company, but it was virtually impossible to get organized. The one folder deep per app approach failed miserably for the 600 files I needed to access on a daily basis. Give the iPad Pro OSX and I am sold.

That being said, I like the Surface Pro, and I'm intrigued by the iPad Pro. No one is right all the time and keeping an open mind is healthy.
Agreed, however it seems like the iPad Pro will have the same limitations as the iPad as far as computing goes. The surface pro is a real computer and functions as such

So Apple basically copied the Surface Pro 3 with a keyboard cover and stylus.
No. That would require using Mac OS X on the iPad Pro. iPad is still an iOS device. iOS has supported physical keyboards for a long time now. And there have been styluses available for iOS as while as well.
Even Microsoft stopped comparing the Surface to the iPad and switched to the MacBook as comparable device.
That is up to Apple! Even I'm a little surprised by the big jump in performance alluded to here. If A9X actually delivers the figures quoted this will be a very nice machine and probably outperform the Mac Book

I meant in appearance. Obviously there are major differences in the systems.

Please forward this to Tim Cook. If there is one thing I hate about iPad (something I generally love to use) is that file handling simply sucks. As such it can't even remotely replace a laptop.

Well this is nonsense, iPad is very much a real computer! The implementation of file handling is just terrible however.

I am STOKED that they put in an A9X processor into this iPad.
"Desktop-class"
Could it make its way into MacBook 2?

I agree that this will be big for enterprise.
I can already see me ditching my Macbook Pro in favor of this at the office.

Is the ?Pencil only compatible with the Pro? Or is it compatible with all the iPads?

But they already had a magnetic cover.

Plus he is or was a marketing person, you don't sell hardware you don't have. People repeatedly forget what marketing is all about.

OK, I was trapped in a meeting... WHEN?? When is it available for purchase?
