Probably not, because I believe that there's a 2 GB app size limit set by Apple.:smokey:

Those people are real busy, committing atrocities just about every single day.

I think everyone that is against Apple's decision on this does not look at it from Apple's perspective. It's _their_ store. If users really want this information, there's obviously other ways to get it, so I approve Apple not supporting the distribution an app through their store (out of their pocket) for this. It would've been even worse if the app was for sale and Apple was making a profit from it. The app store is not the internet. It just is one venue that operates over the internet, and Apple _should_ be censoring it.

Except now Safari has ad blocking which is going to force people to make apps and either charge for it or use iAd, and now Apple dictates what can be on a app or not. Is this the beginning of thought control?

Wow.  Everyone seems to be completely missing the point here...

This isn't about Censorship, or Terrorists or "Those people".

This is about a Developer who spent countless hours/days/weeks/months building an App -- an App that Apple could have rejected but instead APPROVED FOR SALE, only to reverse course sometime later citing completely ambiguous rules.  This is about the inability to create an App that Apple can't remove, because the rules are so incredibly loose, that literally anything you create can be yanked, for any reason, at any time.

It's incredibly arrogant of Apple to expect developers to continue to invest in an eco-system that can change it's mind anytime it likes -- and render months of hard work moot.  As an App Developer, this kind of news is incredibly disheartening.

That's a bunch of baloney. This app wasn't pulled for a random reason, just because somebody felt like it. Apple has their specific reasons for denying and pulling certain apps.

If an app developer chooses to make an app that might be controversial, or politically controversial, then they are probably taking a risk. If somebody wishes to gamble on something, then they would be wise to choose something that gives them decent odds. I would venture to guess that apps of this nature does not give a gambler decent odds. :)

I'm not an app developer, but if I were, I wouldn't have wasted my time making such an app, because I am smart enough to know that there might be issues with it, due to its highly political and controversial nature, and because of Apple's past history when it comes to controversial topics and apps.:smokey:

What's baloney is the "users might find objectionable" reason. The app is not forced on anyone, and its users knew what they were getting when they decided to get the app. If they then find the material objectionable then they can delete the app themselves. What's next, the pulling of Angry Birds because a avian group finds sling shooting of birds into structures as objectionable?

So you know the personal dealings of every person who attends a wedding to which you've been invited?

Collateral damage, especially children, radicalizes a population and are some of the greatest propaganda images for terrorist organizations.

It can be argued that with indiscriminate drone strikes, we create more terrorists than we destroy.

So if Apple is going to engage in censorship such as removing games that contain the confederate flag, you can't really whine when they censor left wing agitprop.  Frankly, I don't like censorship on any side of the coin but Apple is going to do what they think is best for their business, and the App Store Guidelines pretty much allow them to remove any content for any dubious reason.   It just strikes me funny when people who might have applauded Apple for censoring content that goes against their ideology are suddenly aghast when Apple censors the 'wrong' thing.

Is this drone strike information available elsewhere...like on The Guardian? I bet it is.

Also, I'm willing to bet NOT ONE of the people crying here about this had ever downloaded that app.

Yeah, I guess that can be argued, anything can be argued, but I don't agree with it. Indiscriminate basically means random, and that's not the case.:smokey:

Ah, so you're one of those types. So, it's the US that's the terrorist right? <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

Well, I certainly hope that there are many, many more "victims" soon, the more, the better.:smokey:

Apple is going over the top with app restrictions!

Sorry, but Apple is a privately owned company and it's completely up to them to decide which apps are allowed or not allowed. People are free to choose or not choose Apple products if this is important to them.

it should be pulled from the store simply because it clearly and maliciously presents the US strikes against terrorists as seemingly unprovoked killings of civilians. if the developer were to change the GUI to count the number of potential/suspected/proven terrorists killed this would not be objectionable

Apple is discontinuing their News app, and all other news apps have been pulled from the store: the truth contains content some users may find objectionable, and you never know when someone might want to install one of those apps without wanting to... or something...

(Yeah, I know, the children killed by drones deserved it... or something... so we'd better not be aware of it. Always better to vote with less information.)

Since the app is available on the Google Play store I guess we'll see a big increase in the Android market share!

What is confusing about the objectionable content? This app is tracking actual death. Not video game pretend people. Not geeks with consoles. People. They were breathing and now not. This is entertaining? Tell their families how enjoyable it is count the bodies. F'n Twisted

If you can't behave like respectable human beings then Apple can't treat you as such. You're f'n grounded till you learn to respect other people lives.

As the internet is transitioning more and more from websites to Apps, this sort of control is terrible news for free speech and access to independent information.

I'm a huge Apple fan. Aways have been, always will be. However, this sort of thing is precisely my reason for worrying about a few gigantic corporations administering all the technology in our lives, and with that control the flow of information that reaches us - or not.
