Neither is perfect. When I informed both Apple and Google of about 100 missing new homes on thier maps Apple corrected within days but nearly 2 years later and one reminder Google has not corrected.
I've informed Apple of about 8 simple things to be corrected, and upon my last check none have been fixed.
Weird. I generally see Apple Maps fixes within 5 business days.
2) What was the timeframe for Google's StreetView going "world wide"? I'm seeing it was started in 2001 and didn't launch until mid-2007, and even then it was only in the US. I think it's only been a little over a year since I first heard about an Apple Maps van on the road, and I don't think it was until last June that Apple officially acknowledged the unmarked vans. Is there word from Apple when they first started to collect this data?
All depends of what you consider the US because just last year San Juan de Puerto Rico didn't have Google Street View, and If you looked for that place they sent you to a neighborhood in Mexico City. And of course, large parts of Latin America are uncovered, Costa Rica, for instance. That, to me, don't sound world wide and gold standard, and as you said nine year in the making... By the way, flyover is available for San Juan de Puerto Rico in Apple Maps right now. Maybe by now is Street View in Google Maps too, but last year it wasn't.
Do people actually use Flyover for anything? I checked it out when it first came out, but haven't really understood its usefulness, apart from just looking cool. I'd be interested to hear if anyone here finds it indispensable, and why.
People really have short memory's. Most people think Google Maps just popped out overnight and did all these things and was perfect. It wasn't and still isn't. Things are always changing around the world so you can never be done. It's always a work in progress. Google has been at it for YEARS. Apple has gone far pretty fast. I'm kind of expecting Street View to come to Apple Maps with iOS10. Depends how much Data Apple has gotten. If it's just U.S. that wouldn't be a good launch being a Global Company.

Right, but is improving in quality from my point of view. Maybe I'm wrong but it looks that now are much better than in 2012.
