I'm waiting for The Verge to give this phone 9.7 rating.
The Verge right now: of their 14 top-tier spots, 9 are occupied by Google products, all articles gush endless, overly supportive fanfare over each and every one of Google's introductions - also keep in mind that this means there are multiple articles for each product.
Wow this crowd is harsh! Welp color me a fool then because I use Android here. And it's not about the money. But I see where people may think it's cheap. To each their own. But it's crazy that some of you criticize the look of the phone when the 6 and 7 took cues from HTC's line. Also, wasn't it your fearless leader that said stealing ideas is a smart thing to do? Jeeze, even the documentaries show you how much of a douche he was and how much he wanted to limit customer choice. You couldnt even open the mac computer without special tools. Sounds like socialism if you ask me. But I digress...
Listen, I respect iPhone bc they have a great ecosystem and their products just work. I get that. But I primarily use Google services and I've used Android back when I use to tinker, a lot. I've seen it mature into a great OS. I don't get mallard, it's runs smooth (Nexus 6p) and I really don't have complaints. To call someone cheap is unfair and some of your thought processes are off the wall. I choose to embrace the differences bc it makes both stand out in particular ways.
As for the Pixel, I really dig the camera and unlimited storage. As well as the pros all assistant. Not a fan of the look so I would keep it in a case. And it has a headphone jack... Which is kinda awesome and still convenient. If it performs as well as my Nexus then I won't complain.

Some of you need to just chill out.
Spending $649 for the Pixel is still ridiculous. The camera doesn't come with optical image stabilization. So good luck getting high quality photos unless you put the phone on a tripod. Google should have used the smaller photo sensor and included OIS. I guess they just wanted better specs.
The CPU runs half the speed of the iPhone.
It does come with an OLED panel but not difficult to include with the volumes this going sell at.
We are a tough crowd when it comes to Google and all things Android. Just like the Pixel, Android is a flagrant copy of iOS. And it really isn't okay.
Amazon has patented one click purchasing. A far simpler and less complicated process than a mobile OS. Yet no one copies the simple Amazon feature yet flagrant copying of the iPhone and iOS are just fine.
And Google charging for its phone as if it is as in the same category as the iPhone is laughable. For the technology this phone has, it really should be selling around 300 to 350. Because that is all it is worth.
I am waiting to see if the batteries in that phone will remain stable with that incredibly fast charging protocol. It will be interesting to see it all play out.

Quite surprisingly it doesn't need OIS based on camera test results from numerable reviewers, and in fact low-light performance benefits from not having it according to a number of them.
