So glad this has been picked up by the Apple blogs in general. I have this exact issue and been trying to get answers for a couple of weeks. Genius Bar appointment next week should hopefully sort me out. And no, it's not 'Lies'.
First post. Did not read.
His post was worth more of a read than your 11,000+ garbage posts combined on this forum. Seek help. Stunning you haven't been banned.
this. Ben Frost was banned and he was perhaps less insane and trollish than sog. what gives?
So I'm a troll when I criticize Apple/Tim cook. And I'm a troll when I defend Apple?
make up your mind.
I both criticize and defend Apple. I'm neither a troll or fanboy.
Just don't dismiss any problem with a one word answer of 'Lies'. How do you know that it isn't a problem due to some rare manufacturing issue? Please tell us how you kbow that the report is lies? I'm sure a lot of people her would like to know why you said what you did. Don't just dismiss anyone with a different opinion to you out of hand. No one can be right all the time.
I noticed this issue on first day. Water color look, blown highlights, etc. Genius Bar appt agreed terrible quality and replaced phone. Same image quality and they really couldn't say why. Finally starting to see some more reports of poor quality from other users.
Pretty light on specifics, so pardon me for being a wee big skeptical of the replacement having the same issue, if that's what you intended to state. Did you walk away with that same issue?
Is this maybe just a case of a camera-in-a-phone having a limited amount of dynamic range? If the highlights were not allowed to saturate, wouldn't the dark areas lose all detail? I dunno, I'm not a pro photographer.
Three possible solutions:
1. Adjust exposure manually 2. Shoot RAW and use Lightroom 3. Use a better camera with wider dynamic range (and hope that anyone viewing it has a display capable of reproducing it)
i've banned sog but i'll reply to his quotes -- you're a troll not because of your opinions, but because of the insane, inciteful manner in which you post.
hey hows the AI "report" on touch disease coming? still on radar?
The data used in this story from assorted Genius Bars has been gleaned as part of that, so yes.
but weren't you going to publish a big touch disease report on the "data" you were collecting?
because it kind of seems as if that was just another controversy of the week with a lot of smoke and talk, but now you've dropped it, leading me to believe there wasn't really any fire there.

Its your claim that we've dropped it - not ours. Think about it. If we've got service data from the 7 Plus, that says that we're still collecting overall service data, right?

No, you do neither, so you're both. You spew inane nonsense in the mistaken belief it'll protect your portfolio, because that's as far as you can see. Folk are tired of your tediously repetitive nonsense, and when you do defend Apple, you still get criticised because you're painfully transparent: next week the share price will drop and we'll have your babble littering the forum again.
If you'd bothered to read the piece then you'd know that Apple is investigating the problem, which is precisely what I'd expect them to do. It isn't widespread. It isn't an issue. And I'm glad that Apple is investigating because, unlike you, they don't have the luxury of insisting that everything that can hurt the share price is a lie.
First post for me, please be kind. I've actually been complaining to my wife about this since the first day i got the 7 plus. For me the images from the 2x camera are just plain bad - they literally look worse than the digital camera when the FIRST iPhone came out 9 years ago. Pixelated, lack of clarity, and light metering seems off too - I've taken shots side by side with my phone and my wife's iPhone 6 and there's no question the iPhone 6 quality is better in terms of clarity and light handling.
I've got a genius bar appt tomorrow (made it last week, even before this article was posted) -- will be happy to bring this article to show them that I'm not making it up.

Yes means exactly that. It is still on our radar.
look i can't decode your lingo. touch disease is about the 6 series, not the 7. so you're saying that you're still planning on a TD story, and that it wasn't just another controversy of the week?
Finally someone is covering this. I was beginning to think I was going insane. My camera has been absolute garbage since I first bought it. Everyone else was talking about how great the camera was and I thought they were all drinking Apple's koolaid. Side-by-side shots of my iPhone 6s and my iPhone 7 Plus -- the iPhone 6s always wins. I've never messed with my camera settings. It was a completely fresh setup. Low light pictures were junk compared to the 6s too.

Will you post here with an update?
Well here's the update after going to my local Genius Bar:
The good - the offered to exchange the phone for a new one -- they had none in stock so I'll have to wait a few days. No big deal.
The bad - they basically blew me off. Even looking at the pictures (which like Burlimonster wrote in the previous post are awful) they were unimpressed. They had me talk to their "expert photographer" Genius who actually said to me that, hey, "this is a phone camera" -- he has a 7+ and says he just uses it as a place marker for shots he goes back to shoot later with his "real" camera. I cannot imagine Apple Marketing (or any Apple management for that matter) would be happy with that answer.
I showed them the article from AppleInsider and they said "we don't acknowledge articles from websites like that", and that "if there's a real problem, Apple Engineering will let us know." *eyeroll*
I am a little worried that this is just what the 7+ camera is, and that the camera actually just stinks. Will post an update once I get the new phone.
Just got my brand new iPhone 7 plus. 2x photo of my cat, Blurry as hell. Didn't have this problem with my iPhone 6 Plus. The blurry photos had Live turned on. Started and ended on blurry. Turned off Live Photos, took 2x photo. Not blurry. The rest of your comments don't specify if you had Live on or off. ??? Anyone else see this?
I don't know why, but as a new iPhone user I just cannot stand anyone criticising the product! The photos I have taken so far are much better than my old Note 7. Everything is better!! In a way I am glad that Samsung bungled so badly otherwise I would never have bought my 7 Plus! It's a revelation the way it coordinates with my MacBook!!

Have your received your replacement? Just curious if it is any better.
Here is a screenshot that I took on my Mac of the problem. I see it on the majority of the photos that I take with my iPhone 7 Plus. I have optimize storage turned off.

Don't just dismiss anyone with a different opinion to you out of hand. No one can be right all the time.
No company is perfect so they are liable for quality control.
There are occaisions where Apple have been prone to lapses in there releases so don't dismiss it as lies.
You have proven yourself to biased opinions to Tim Cook so allow others to have their opinion. This is how a civilised society works.

As I said before: get a grip.
