I think Touch ID is working so well because the technology always operates under such controlled circumstances. The only factors that can mess it up is dirt or moist or if you get a finger cut. You don't even need light, you can unlock in your pocket etc. Discretely.

With a 3D sensing camera for security there are so many potential messy factors. Lighting conditions. Glasses. Beard. Hair. The cameras need to accurately store a "fingerprint" of the facial scull structure accurate enough for banks to trust, probably accompanied with iris, check whether the object is indeed living flesh and blood by measuring tiny changes in colours, indicating heartbeat and blood flow. And hey, what if you're wearing a burka or too much makeup blocking the blood flow to shine through?

I can see much more potential messy factors here, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're facing challenges. Development of such software hardware integration like this is hard to project a deadline for. Apple has got super high standards for security and success rate here, and it has to work flawlessly.

Lastly, it might even be a good thing in the long run releasing it later. Then Apple can issue a beta and have a loooot of people test it all over the world, and then gather as much feedback as possible before launching it for real.

I’ll believe it if the source was from the kremlin.
Well the source for this one may be Phil Schiller speaking thru John Gruber.  That's according to PED.

    As for battery life,
It is the best for the size of the phone and the fact it doesn't throttle much so you get top performance until it dies..

Would definitely prefer 2-3mm thicker phone for the sake of a larger battery. Phones are too slim to hold them comfortably in your hand anyway... And then we have this bending issues, not just iPhone. Just saying. And seems everyone I talk about this issue agrees. 2mm is nothing but in terms of battery life it would be great.
Seems your pulling things straight out of your rump, you don't actually own an Iphone or touched one.
Funny how those supposedly bendy phone (the Iphone 6 2 years ago), are still being sold without change hey.
    Get with the program bud.
Owned at list 5 iPhones so far ;)
Don't believe you, you lie too much
haven't refuted my post I see
    Get a life bro
