    They should be able to get any part, including DVD drives, from Apple unless it's really old. In which case Apple won't have the part either.



    Was it an authorised service centre?

    Yes, and Apple doesn't have the drive either (it's the original PowerBook G3/500 (Pismo) DVD-ROM drive).



    If they did, they wouldn't be considering giving me a new computer (not that I think they are any way).

    An Apple care person is looking right now on a Pismo DVD modul, almost peeing on himself in excitement and he is waiting to call you in 1 hour and 50 minutes aka in last minute JUST TO PISS YOU OFF Fran.



    Luckily enough they will screw things up again, drop it and step on it when he picks it up to go to the post room

    I spoke with regular Apple tech support and they said that the case was worked on '15 minutes ago'. They also said that 4:30 was probably 'their time' instead of 'my time' (despite having it well defined during our original conversation).



    So the support person sent an email to her saying that I was waiting to hear from her and I should hopefully get a phone call soon.



    If I don't hear anything tonight, I'm going to have to go to the next level (again).

    No Dell isn't worse, they come to your house fix the computer on your kitchen table then get out of your hair in under an hour
