Actually, Apple said that the machine comes with the standard 1 year warranty (with 90 days phones support) and that I can buy a new Extended AppleCare plan at any time.
Finally! The 2 year ordeal is over! I'm happy for ya, Fran. But you still got duped into spending $500. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />
Yay! Good to see they're finally doing right by you.
Oh, and Stagflation Steve: My employer has the absolute best level of support Dell offers, and I laughed out loud when I read your post. Sometimes they've come through...
No Dell isn't worse, they come to your house fix the computer on your kitchen table then get out of your hair in under an hour</strong><hr></blockquote>
Congratulations Fran. Three cheers for Apple (finally....)
I have no idea why the last support guy I talked to lied to me other than the fact that he wanted me off the phone.
I've got my fingers crossed that this actually gets resolved soon.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Just a question/suggestion, but why in the hell don't you tape your conversations with Apple?
You've learned in the past that their customer service sucks big donkey balls, so why not go to your local electronics shop, pick up a cheap tape based answering machine, and record all your conversations? See how they deny all their promises, when you send them a copied tape of their promises, plus the lengthy times on hold.
Even better, send it to upper management. Threaten to post it on the internet. Whatever.
The point is, instead of waiting for them to screw you over for the thousand'th time, beat them at their own game.
They actually do say, "This call may be recorded for quality assurance" or something to that effect but since you actually have to tell them that you are going to record the call they will tell you that it's them who have the right to record the call or they will just hang up.
I was at the point on Thursday night to do just that, though (record the calls) or at least bluff them (make them think I was recording the calls).
Thankfully, it didn't come down to that.
My cashier's check went out yesterday and I'll sign the legal papers tomorrow so I might even get my new laptop on Tuesday!

Just bustin' your chops.
I think either you managed someone to read your entire case and found out that they had managed your case rather poorly.
Or their board monitors found out that a lot of people would be pretty pissed if they stepped right over you for the second time.
Consider this a victory for both you AND Apple
Okay people. You can stop screw them now
I´ll leave this old body to rest and be the white from now on
Anders: Jay ! welcome to the club.

That would be illegal in many states.
