My money is on Apple Lens.

Looks like this will be a great event next week. Hoping for an Apple Silicon iMac, but looks like I’ll need to be patient.

How about...  iSee  and iSaw ;)
The whole “i”-branded devices naming convention is no longer a strategy for them. It’s “Apple (product name)”.
    Agreed, 'twas but a jest.

    • Project Titan is an upgrade to CarPlay as an OS with dev kits for car makers. No Apple Car.

No way. Maybe some aspects of the project could lend themselves to a more integrated CarPlay (HUD tech or other non simple secondary display stuff, etc) but there is far too much actual hardware work being done and patented on this project to conclude an actual vehicle isn’t the end target. I can’t see them making an “OS” for someone else’s hardware.
Totally agree. Apple hired actually car manufacturing people. Those people are about the physical manufacturing of a vehicle.

Now, I’m sure there are CarPlay enhancements in the pipeline. It just has nothing to do with Titan.

    ....

Apple could announce the "Apple Glass" early,  Apple will focus on privacy as a primary feature, so don't expect facial recognition and the like.

    ....
    That's a shame!
Many with autism have to deal with Prosopagnosia (facial blindness) where the person has great difficulty recognizing faces and so their social interaction impairments are made even worse.   Facial recognition would be a huge help for them.

Apple glass... lol they'd never play second fiddle to Google so blatantly

    If i had to guess?

    "iSight"
Except they already used iSight for their webcam several years ago.

Maybe they’ll do like Apple TV and have two products with the same name so it’s just incredibly confusing. :smirk:

i can see them announcing an AppleSi mac with a planed release in time for Christmas. Developers have had the development kit since they announced AppleSi so it’s not like they’re getting blindsided.

I’m with @dewme - I could use a new MacBook but really don’t need one. Mostly I’m just really curious and eager to see what an AppleSi Mac can do.

    They recycled "iBooks" as well.

But they haven't introduced new lines with an "i-" prefix in many years now. I think themacpro was joking.

    Sounds like a disinfo leak.
Another possibility is that it could be a true leak from Apple designed to give this leaker credibility for next year's disinformation at which time this leaker actually will provide disinformation. It's a credibility-building leak.

After all, a leak three days before an event, even if it's true, really doesn't cost Apple any sales.

I guess I just read too many spy novels. Nobody else seems to be as Machiavellian as myself.

The change to Apple silicon is so fundamental, Apple's crack marketing team might even decide to increase the drama and replace the term "Mac" in "MacBook". Perhaps with "Apple". That would make it the "AppleBook." That would then imply other changes like "Apple Air", "Apple Mini", "Apple Pro" and so on. It has a pretty nice feel to it. And I'd like to remind you it has a history, as their earliest computers were called "Apple II" etc. I'm not quite sure what they would call the iMac however. As people are saying, the "i" is so "last decade". I think they will need to get creative with that one. My wild guess is "Apple Complete" because it's a complete computer.

I'm a little egotistical so I think Apple would be remiss and uncreative not to take these ideas.

I like that one. We’ll see if you’re eventually correct. If you want to put your money where your mouth is, buy that domain name. ;)

Until Catalina, several macOS releases went GM at the Sept event. So, perfectly feasible they’d be ready to ship an Apple Silicon Mac within the next few weeks.

The larger point is, hardware announcements aren't tied to OS availability. Shipments are.

Not necessarily. Apple would rather ship a half-baked OS than delay hardware shipments because of it.

"Time Flies" is an almost certain reference to the time-of-flight LiDAR sensor expected in the iPhone 12. That the media didn't glom onto that shows how lame they are, parroting one another.

Fascinating. It might mean that. But I'm sure the ambiguity was intentional, and it also refers to the Watch.

"Apple Air", "Apple Mini", "Apple Pro" — Absolutely no way. You're missing the article in these product names, which is currently Mac.
"Apple Complete"? Is English your first language?

Almost certainly not. Especially if the rumors are true that there's no iPhone reveal tomorrow. Not to mention LiDAR is already present in the iPad Pro so it's not exactly a tentpole feature reveal. It's the Watch.
