We believe it's related to 5G more than anything else.

I am betting that, however Apple structures the event, the site will be equipped with 5G and, we will likely see a demo of 5G (likely mm-wave) at its best.

As many have correctly said, mm-wave will not be out on our streets (generally).  But it is likely to be used for events like stadiums and for businesses and industry to use internally.   So, I suspect the Apple campus and particularly Steve Jobs Theater may already have it.

Does anybody remember the good old days?

One of personal faves (from minute 6)

1 Megabit per second sounds so slow in 2020.

That unrelenting cough. I doubt I thought about it twice back in 1999.  :(

“Hi, Speed” could very well be dialog from the Speed Racer movie or anime media. Maybe Apple is buying the Japanese Speed Racer media franchise and will release a Mach 5 (as in 5G) and Shooting Star version of the iPhone. Otherwise, wouldn’t “High Speed” without the comma and the properly spelled adjective be more appropriate to define a speedy new device? Hey, just saying...

Fingers crossed there will be some updates on the AS Mac front. My ancient iMac is overdue for a replacement and I’m hoping for some sort of portable solution since my even more ancient MacBook Pro died.
Apple has previously promised the first Apple Silicon Mac would ship "before the end of the year."

Every other time that they have said that, in regards to the Mac, it means December. Who knows this year, though.
Well, that gives them at least 2 years* to ship an ASi Apple Mac.

    * Based on 2020 time
You think "before the end of the year" refers to the end of 2021? Can you explain that?
On June 22, Apple stated that the transition would take 2 years.
Note that Wgkrueger wrote 'an' not 'all'.

And that Mike wrote: Apple has previously promised the first Apple Silicon Mac would ship "before the end of the year."

See the reference to first Mac?

Your statement, on the other hand, is about how long it will take to complete, not when it when the first Si Mac for retail will ship.

    Edit:

If you still don't believe me, here's additional info to further back up mine and Mike's comments, here's what ArsTechnia took away from WWDC.

The key announcement was the timeline: The first Mac with Apple silicon will happen by the end of the year, with the whole Intel-to-ARM transition taking around 2 years. Expect to see new Intel-based macs come out in the near future.

Everyone seems to be investing in a lot of time analysing an obvious joke about how long and tortuous this year has been. That's why Wgkrueger said committing to having an Apple Silicon Mac out "before the end of the year" gives them 2 years, based on 2020 time, to actually do so.

Humour: It's always better when someone explains it!

That's not what Wgkrueger or Flydog said. You can backpedal and make all the excuses you want but the comments are still there. Additionally, you want to look into how jokes works.

    I'm hoping I don't get Apple-blocked again!

I am really keen on buying an MBP. I would've bought the 16", had it WiFi 6 and 10th gen. Intel processors. Now I probably will wait for the Apple Silicon one. I am lucky I can wait.
I am keen on buying an iPad Pro. Apple-blocked again, because it came with the A12Z chip, which I felt was a stop-gap for the next model.
I wanted to pick up a new Apple TV, but again, rumors of a new iteration have kept me waiting.
I wanted to pick up a few charging cables, but if the braided ones are released with the new iPhones, I'd rather wait for them.
I've been waiting to buy a couple of the new iPad Airs for my kids, but they are still not out.

So I've Apple-blocked this entire year!

Based on the rumors, the iPhone 12 (?) Pro Max will only ship in November, so Apple-blocked again!!

We believe it's related to 5G more than anything else.
Maybe the Mac event will be called "Full Speed Ahead"?

i'm quite keen to get as cheap as possible device to act as a HomeKit Hub.

i don't want an Apple TV or spend $$$ on an iPad just for this function

so a cheap HomePod mini could be good as long as it can act as a hub

Either way, I'm sure the slogan was cooked up by Apple's crack marketing team. I.e., "Hi" and "Speed."

I find this helpful what with all the leaks about.

Funnily, this site wrote twice in apple’s valuation dropping below two-trillion but is silent when they are over that barrier (not that it matters a great deal anyways, stocks will fluctuate and Wall Street has never fully understood apple and their vision anyways).

    "Based on 2020 time"

That's exactly what Wgkrueger said, you just misinterpreted it to something that made little sense.
