A friend of mine got his first iPhone from his sister for Christmas. It’s an iPhone 12 and his previous phone was an old Samsung. None of his charge blocks would work because the iPhone 12 had a usb-c connector and all his blocks were usb-a. For first time users it’s a poor introduction to Apple’s hardware. They ought to make a charger an free option for first time buyers.

Actually, they should be free to ALL buyers. These huge phones are more like charging an iPad than the tiny phones that existed when the old 5Watt bricks originated. But Apple upgraded the phones but never the bricks -- and now they want to user to absorb that cost.
