I think maybe the corners rounding dimensions are too big.

you can do better...strip the background and get the light right

K guys, I made my version 2.0 of the iTablet: http://www.spymac.com/gallery/showph...sort=1&thecat= . It still isn't perfect, but I'm working on it. Notice the rounded edges .

Nice, but (there's always a but) it'd be more useful if it were rotated 90 degrees.

BUT why don't have options for both landscape and portrait modes? That can't be too difficult to implement.

Ya, I thought about that. But MacWhispers noted the height as smaller than the length, so I figure it'd be this way.

I think a potential cool use for a tablet would be to put an 80 gig HD in it, and make it work essentially like a external HD.

have it so you can mount the HD on any computer even when the screen is off. BUT unlike any external HD, it HAS a screen, so you can navigate files and stuff.

but it is very boarderline why not just get a laptop stuff.

I suppose if the tablet cost sub $800 bucks, and included a 12 inch screen and an 80 gig HD, then it would be worth it.

It would be cool to use the "iPad" as a console to configure the xServe.

just make it as flexible as possible, i.e. so that everyone can use it whatever way they want to -> that will ensure its success.

for me it would be a home media station. itunes, radio, internet radio, internet, iphoto, maybe dvd player (though, as some have suggested it probably won't have an optical drive), imovie player.

And how is this achieved? By having it run a full, off the shelf install of OS X. I don't care how big or small it is, what kind of power or battery life it has, or even how much it costs. Just let me comfortably use OS X while standing up, and I'll buy two.

That's false. I've been here the longest and I believe him.

He's the ONE guy I do believe. He's just had the misfortune of trying to second guess Steve Jobs' timing.

OMG! Are you defective? listen very carefully, read slow, let it sink in.

    Kormac

    HAS

    NEVER

    BEEN

    RIGHT

    ABOUT

    A

    SINGLE

    PREDICTION,

    PERIOD!

It all started with "good better best" which he got wrong, acccording to him, these were to be differently sized LCD models. Over 3 years ago! in 12 to 14 inch sizes! HA! AS we know we've only started using LCD's in iMacs last year. The most he might have ever seen is some add copy, or heard someone talk about it, he's never been right about the substance of prediction, not ever, NEVER. Think for a second, jeeze.

i****, and e****, Raycer, G5's etc etc... turned out to be utter crap, of course, as was apparent from the moment they were originally posted. As I have explained numerous times, EVENTUALLY pie in the sky will come true simply because technology marches forward. Subnotes shrink untill they start to resemble fantasy v.2's of YEARS back, power increases untill it looks like a fantasy of YEARS ago. It is OBVIOUS that Kormac knew nothing.

If you want to kiss someone's ass, you can puckers up and smooch mine, as I have the only accurate prediction about Apple's technology in past months -- Quarrtz Extreme. Check your history, when the Raycer idiocy was floating around this board, I said over and over that it didn't make any sense for Apple to do that since the video card makers would soon eclipse any custon design you could make. I also said, repeatedly that Apple would be better off to harness the power of the video card and OpenGL to do more serious "work" rather than just to paint pretty games. That's essentially what QE is, and as another baseline performance level becomes available, I fully expect that QE like enhancements will go further, to allow the GPU to contribute to more meaningful computations than just painting the desktop, something for video, and graphics people. There is not, will never be, any RAycer "chip." But that's just one of many of Kormac's unfounded BS predictions.

AS for the rest, as I said, technology marches on, eventually offerings will look like things dreamed up on these and other boards, buit NONE of that is exclusive to Kormac in any way whatsoever.

I'm thinking this may finally be Apple's network computer. It will be cheapish (in Apple terms) and be marketed for those who want to surf the net and get email and perhaps run a few other built-in apps, but don't need a full computer. You will probably also be able to purchase songs from Apple and download them for your iPod. In this mode it might require a .mac subscription. It will also be marketed as a satellite in the Digital Hub. Add it to your Mac and it takes advantage of Apple's networking technologies to be even more useful. Remember all that remote viewing tablet stuff we dreamed up about a year and a half ago? Maybe Steve took our ideas and ran with them. You'll be able to view and control your Mac from any room in the house. Tell your Mac to send an iTunes stream via Airport to the tablet or to the Digital Hub Device attached to speakers in a certain room. Perhaps as we once imagined, you can also request a video stream to the tablet or have it sent to a device connected to your TV. Your Mac takes the place of you Tivo. The Digital Hub finally comes together with this device. I'm hoping the infrared stuff is also included. If I'm using it to request a video stream, I should be able to turn on the TV, also. Steve, if you're listening, purchase Xtension and roll X-10 control into the hub.

In short, I see this as a possible new computer platform. On it's own, its easy to use and cheap. It's also designed to be used along side your Mac, and that's when the real magic happens. Dream big, I say. When we did this place was a lot more fun.

Yea so all 30 people who bought Xserves can buy one rather then the hundreds of thousands regular consumers?
