No... I waited so long for them to return to flat edges. Ugh. Hate curved edges. Makes it feel less premium. Less like a device. Easier to drop, IMO.
I'm with you. And I wouldn't mind not having to pay extra for a soft grip case so it doesn't fall out my pocket or hand at the worst possible time!
Plus I’ve suspected that the cases insulate the phone: increasing the risk of overheating when the faster chargers that are now pretty much standard are used. Yes, there’s a monitoring system but isn’t it a bit like the overheat light on your car? When it’s triggered you’ve already had some amount of damage…
I think two A17s are required to have the name ‘ultra’.
Currently, in iPhone 14, there is a huge gap in the area of the internal boards where the sim slot use to be. They haven’t properly redesigned the inside of the phones to use that space. (Because some international versions of iPhone 14 still use physical sims) iphone 15 could be the phone they fully utilize that space for two A17 dies interconnected like the M1 Ultra.
Not sure if the removal the SIM tray will mean less PCB space. And, the rumor is that "periscope" cameras will make it into iPhones sooner or later. If it does, it will take up the room used by the SIM tray.
It doesn't telescope out like periscope, or many a digital camera, but it is slated to have two 90° bends for the light. The camera system will have a movable lens system between the cover and the sensor. It's going to be sitting between two 90° mirrors, with the lens translating between the two to increase or decrease zoom. Apple has a patent on this that's about a decade old now I think.
Sounds a bit iffy on the must-have feature front. Not many people need 5x, 10x, 20x optical zoom. So, again, I hope they make the camera module like storage or RAM, where there is a set of options to choose from.

What's nice about the design in these renders is that it's not just a return to the curved edge iPhones from the 6-11 series. It maintains a flat edge for grip but then curves at the back edge only. And a curve like that executed in metal--whether it's titanium or not, we'll see--would look/feel much more premium than it does on the iPhone SE. But hey, I'm not going to try and convince you to like it--design is always very subjective. And at the end of the day, I think Apple is far more likely to just stick with the current brick slab design anyway.
I'm not buying the iPhone 15 unless it has 8 cameras on the back. still can't believe we need to keep adding cameras with each new model, they really have run out of ideas I wish they would get over the obsession of making the phones so thin and having the camera stick out. how about a thicker phone with flush camera and a bigger battery?
"Thunderbolt speeds would be a massive improvement for creatives, especially those working with massive ProRes video files."
Massive ProRes video files? On a PHONE? Sounds like an exercise in high tech torture! Maybe use a MacBook Pro, a Mac Studio or an Apple Silicon Mac Pro (soon, soon…).
Got to shoot it on something.
LOL! In the good ol' days we used to shoot pro video on pro camcorders. And edit them on pro computers (Powermac G4/5's, Mac Pros). Doubt "Foundation" was shot on an iPhone!
Probably not for "broadcast," but the pre-imaging and test shots were.
An iPhone doesn't replace the pro video cameras, obviously. But lots of stuff is shot on them, and getting the video off faster is a good thing.
Apple should work with professional digital camera makers to create an interface so photos and videos can easily and quickly transfer to iPhone while you shoot.
This is a good test for the Japanese companies to step up in software/hardware, Apple can’t do everything because if they do someone (EU) will cry, remember you are a monopoly of yourself.

Cameras are one of the most used and most compared features of a phone. Whether you like it or not, Apple doesn’t have a choice.
And 95% of users put their phone in a case making the camera bump irrelevant. A thicker phone would be that much thicker after putting a case on it.
The alternative is the whole phone is crazy thick. I would not like that.
I made my 7 Plus last 4 years but it needed a battery and a repair. My 12 is already 2 years old and its battery is at 82%. Considering a only paid $70 for Apple to replace the battery in my wife's 11 before I sold it, I'd just have Apple replace it in my 12 when it says and probably wait for the iphone 16. I've still very happy with my phone.
