Use short, non-offensive kicks. And when strangling him, only do so in a medically-approved fashion. Also, refrain from commenting on his cooking skills during the ass beating, as that is seen as the height of intolerance.
Shawn, my boy, let the "political correctness" thing go, okay?
I didn't say the "t" word to be degrading and I wouldn't choose to go out of my way to say something in a different way and them blame it on P.C., one way or the other.
You said it didn't exist, I called you on it and now it's in all your posts of late.
It's okay.
Besides, you're the biggest perv here, so don't ding anyone about proper terms and names, Mr. Whapita.
But just to show you what a good sport and swell fella I am: "breasts".
I wonder if this will boost or further flatten their sales...
I would guess the former since their original fans have pretty much thrown their fits and will probbaly forgive them sometime in the near future...and having your naked bodies on a magazine cover probably adds a whole lot of mindshare.
And, they also did one of those "I'd rather go naked..." posters for PETA (like Charlotte Ross and others have done). I saw a small pic of it on google.
No, I wasn't doing a search for "naked Dixie Chicks...". No, ahem...not at all. [whistles and looks around casually and innocently...]
As I said earlier, I think most people are ready - and more than happy - to forgive them and let it go. Things have blown over a bit and things went pretty well, considering.
The people I want to laugh at are the ones who are thinking "okay, I forgive 'em..." but also stomped and broke all their CDs and stuff a month ago.
Dumbasses. Now you gotta go buy the CDs all over again.
Or wait until Monday and see what this Apple announcement brings.
I really doubt that's Natalie Maines' tummy (pc enough?) on that cover.
If they did 'Shop it I think it's sort of a shame. I kind of admired her because she seemed to have an attitude like, "Yeah, I put on a little weight but I still sing the same so FU!"
I think they have to decide whether they want to be activists or popular.
They aren't 'activists', they never claimed to be, and they haven't tried to be.
What they did do was dare to criticise the President of the United States in the course of a concert in London. One of them said something like "We're from Texas, so's George Bush, we're ashamed". As you know. Which is no crime.
Apparently in France they're not free because there's a law that says you can't criticise the President. Hasn't been used in living memory, and no-one cares, and everyone criticises the President all the time.
In America, they don't need a law like that. You criticise the President, ONCE, and they burn your records, they won't play your music on the radio, they send you hate mail and they trespass on your property.
But you are, of course, "free" to say what you want.
From where I'm standing this isn't the most edifying spectacle in the history of free speech.
I think what he's saying is that this stuff is a two-way street. For all of Tim Robbins' caterwauling about a "cold wind blowing" and so forth, fact is people in his position (and the Dixie Chicks) are not being hushed or silenced. Did anyone besides me cackle at the idea of Robbins whining about "being silenced" while talking to...the National Press Club?
No one has EVER said they can't say this, protest that, etc.
But, like it or not, it IS a two-way street. There is no guarantee that everyone has to like what they say. Where is that written?
Again, hypocrisy on the part of some. Some right-winger says or does something stupid and people protest, call for his resignation, refuse to watch his show, stop buying products represented by the company, etc. That's called "expressing your view".
When the situation flips around and people who might be pro-Bush or lean to the right a bit exercise the exact same freedoms, suddenly they're oppressive book-burners and intolerant lunkheads.
Please. Most of us would give anything to have 1/10th of the access and ability to "get the word out" as many of these celebrities. No one is stopping them from saying anything.
They just don't like it because they often find out, in no uncertain terms, how at odds they might be with many citizens and potential members of their fan base.
Where in the hell did you pull out "book burning" from?
Two-way street, pal. The right to SAY it is guaranteed. The right of having all your statements be popular and adored by the public isn't.

I say "boobs" when women are around. My 2 year old tells us sometimes, when our baby is crying, that "she needs some boob".

I can call you an old fart, but everyone knows the politically correct term is "elderly"
I'm just kidding, but it goes to show you the extent to which you can use the excuse of "political correctness" to say anything.
Perhaps "titties" is maybe, I don't know, possibly, degrading in a way?
"But oh it's not because we shouldn't use the term, it's the fault of political correctness!"
"Let's reduce everything to political correctness becuase, well, we can!"
Aside #2
I'd like to meet your wife.
(whapita, etc)
Whats the politically correct way to kick your ass?
kidding....kidding...
touche!
That's what the guidebook says!
Just don't mention j.lo or I'll morph into a super-virtuous mutant whose vigilance knows no ends.

There.
Is that making the rounds yet? Heard it on one of those "entertainment minute" radio things today.
That is quite interesting because it's true.
Hey man I was there in front of CMT when the 'Chicks did a naked music video for "Without You."
Glued. (but not in a jim, american pie 2 kinda way...)
So it's not the first time they've done this.
only the most noticeable because of the political flak they've been under.
I would guess the former since their original fans have pretty much thrown their fits and will probbaly forgive them sometime in the near future...and having your naked bodies on a magazine cover probably adds a whole lot of mindshare.

From what I heard their concert ticket and album sales have been up.

sadly, one only completely unrelated picture showed up.

so it's ok for them to say what they want, but if their fans want to express how they feel it's bad? speech isn't confined to the spoken word.

Oh look, Alcimdes is actually defending book burning! Awww.

Actually quite simple to most of us.

that chapter must have been in one of the books i burned.
