A debate at this point is unnecessary, Harris destroyed the cost of living in 4 years, we don't need another 4 years of that.

Trump was better at literally every marker that impacts the majority of the USA population.

    MAGA.
What I like about this claim is that economy data is knowable. So let's look at the actual data.

    Job Growth:

    Trump - 2.7 million
    Biden: +15.7 million

    Unemployment:
    Trump: 6.7%
    Biden: 4.2%

    GDP:
    Trump 2.7%
    Biden: 3.5%

    Inflation:
    Trump: 11%
    Biden: 19%

    Deficit Spending:
    Trump: 8.18 Trillion
    Biden:  6.17 Trillion

    Wages:
    Trump: +8.4% after inflation
    Biden:  -2.3% after inflation

    Corporate Profits:
    Trump: +17.4%
    Biden: + 36%

    Trade Deficit:
    Trump: +36%
    Biden:  +22%

    People Without Health Insurance:
    Trump: +3 million
    Biden:  -2.1 million

So, for the claim that every is better under Trump to be true you would have to limit those markers to Inflation and Wage Growth after inflation. Since both of those numbers are based on the impact of inflation your basic contention is that inflation is the only economic number that matters. That is objectively false. Without a doubt inflation has been awful, but literally every other number is better under the Biden Presidency and the U.S. economy is in far better shape than it gets credit for.

And for giggles let's look at violent crime:
    Trump: +1.1%
    Biden:  -9.1%

    Strange times.

No real primary on the democratic side. Anyone wanting to run for president against Harris really couldn't. President Joe Biden was the presumptive nominee and his base was fine with him until he lost the one debate with President Trump. Then all of sudden he is out and no primary or contest to determine who the new nominee would be via debates followed by polling, etc. Just "here is your candidate." Really weird stuff. America deserves better. Yet here we are.

The debate is a formality. One candidate has kept their word over and over and proven to be beneficial for the country. The proof is in the pudding. The other meanwhile, was the first casualty of the last democratic primary because no one wanted that candidate for president. that same individual has espoused views that America was clearly at odds with during that campaign. Eventually, a vice presidential position was gifted and this person proved why they don't belong in such an important leadership position. There was the small issue of the Afghan pullout and arming terrorists with 80 billion dollars in powerful military weaponry. Even the one major role tasked to this person was a disaster. And now they are saying anything to try to get elected - things that we have known are not true core beliefs and are actually contrary. Just ask Bernie Sanders. America is just supposed to pretend that the last 4 years did not happen?

While I fully expect the debate to be full of mud-slinging, especially conserning phony lawfare related labels, I don't expect anything of actual substance other than lies and flip-flop statements related to oil, crime reform, the border, and more copying from the other candidate.

The debate is a formality. We know what we are getting with each person. It's not a mystery. The question is, do we want an America that looks like the last 4 years at home and on the world stage? Or do we want a country that looks like it did in the previous admin, both at home and abroad? It's not rocket science.

Why would anyone subject themselves to a debate. I'll summarize...lots of name calling and accusing followed by Trump winging it and Harris parroting off scripted answers. If you want substantive analysis you will need a source like the NYT. They are definitely slanted towards Harris and inflammatory towards Trump but they do make an effort to layout the issues and stances.
It seems the candidates do not know the questions or topics ahead of time, unlike cupcake prerecorded interviews on some networks..  This is going to be really interesting because they have to respond on the fly.
Tonight might be different but historically the candidates know the topics in advance but not the questions. This cycle is weird though. Normally the Commission on Presidential Debates manages the debates then picks a theme for each one (Foreign Policy, Economy and so on). For whatever reason the campaigns have decided to forego that this year and just work it out between each other and the networks.
Hillary knew the questions. LOL. Can't make that stuff up. So the truth is... who knows?

Apparently you can make it up and not only can you make it up you can also dupe people into repeating it as fact.

Hillary didn’t have the questions and you should consider finding better news sources.

As someone outside of the USA and regarding you question: do you want a country that looks like it did in the previous admin abroad: it was an embarrassment and a laughing stock around the world. I suspect you don't want that again.

I've never considered a slaughter as a formality. Trump failed worse than expected.
One candidate has kept their word over and over and proven to be beneficial for the country.
LOL Whether you actually believe that Trump has kept his word or whether you're just another shameful liar and grifter supporting your kind, it's still laughable or you to write it.

so now that the debate is over, it was as I said. Nothing learned. One great president still Loking to see America prosper again and the other an incompetent unwilling to answer for the disastrous last 4 years - thinking promises of “free money!” And promising to do everything she should have the last 4 years but didn’t will be enough. And when all else fails, play the race card…again.

Sorry lady. We’ve seen that movie on rerun every year for nearly four years. We want our America back. Not some socialist version where you have to come to a controlling mommy government for everything.

But hey, left-wing snipes is never wrong and hasn’t had to correct their own falsehoods about trump statements, hunters laptop, Biden snoozing during ceremony, etc.

not you know, you could have the incident wrong.

Lesson: if you’re going to correct someone, you should probably be right. Not this.

I watched some Apple TV+ & then baseball. Reading friends reactions on social media I didn't miss a thing. Well, besides the "very stable genius" proving once again he is a deranged traitor:

"I have concepts of a plan"

"In Springfield, they're eating dogs! They're eating cats!"

    "I saw it on TV!"

Those are his talking points? At this point his supporters are just as batspit crazy and racist.

What's this weird obsession about a consumer electronic device of someone not in public office? The fact that you have to go after the troubled son of a politician says something about you as a person and how there's nothing on Biden you can sink your teeth into.

For example Bobo (Lauren Boebart) has a very troubled son and that's very sad and hopefully she'll be as much as a responsible parent as Biden has been with regard for letting the law do its thing with regard to his son for his actions. But you don't have to focus on her son —whose name I don't even know — when there are so many stupid, unethical, and disgusting things in which to focus on with Bobo.

The eating of cats and dogs comment reminded me of the scene in Ghostbusters when they are talking to the mayor.

    Lol. Defensive much?

didn’t go after anyone. Nor was there any “obsession” on my part.

Ia modicum of reading comprehension would have informed that snipes was the subject I was “going after.” And how they falsely reported on msny things, pretending to fact-check.

No need to move the goalposts. Snipes was the subject. The examples I gave related to their “fact checks.” You can be at peace once more.

Like I pointed out prior to the debate, your guy violated his oath of office by sending a mob to the Capitol in an attempt to subvert the will of the people, overturn the election and overthrow the government.

When asked about that during the debate, he displayed full, textbook Narcissistic Personality Disorder, first by blaming the attack on other people, then by lying and claiming he was just asked to give a speech and had nothing to do with any of it. These are the excuses of a weak, deranged man who always compulsively avoids responsibility and accountability.

Apart from throwing under the bus all of his misguided fans who have been prosecuted for that insurrection ("I had nothing to do with that other than they asked me to make a speech. I showed up for a speech"), he still failed to address his gross dereliction of duty as he sat and watched it all go down and did nothing to stop it for hours. He waited until it was clear that the coup had failed before he released his famous "we love you" video telling the insurrectionists they could go home now.

Had Trump 'merely been asked to make a speech,' rather than incited a mob to go do his bidding, he would have immediately been on the phone calling up the National Guard. As soon as the first perimeter barrier was breached (if not before), he would have been on the phone with the Speaker of the House, the Vice President, and the Mayor of Washington, DC to offer help and to coordinate a full and rapid response to stop the mob, and he would have been on national TV calling on everyone to immediately disperse from the Capitol building and grounds or face arrest and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. Instead, he sent out a tweet criticizing the Vice President for failing to implement his coup.

Even if everything Trump did before January 6th 2021 was, as he narcissistically likes to claim, "perfect," all by itself his failure to act to stop the attack disqualifies him from holding office ever again. Full stop.

“One candidate has kept their word over and over and proven to be beneficial for the country.”

How much bleach does one have to inject to destroy enough brain cells to come to THAT laughably absurd conclusion, along with all the other nonsensical blathering? (Or maybe that was just the script from a contractor for Tenent Media?)

    https://www.wired.com/story/influencers-tenet-benny-johnson-tim-pool-russia-propaganda-videos/

Others have posted facts and stats comparing the two administrations. Anyone paying attention to such things already known this and the choice is clear. Those subjecting themselves to reich-wing propaganda and swallowing it deserve the bad aftertaste.

Ignorance of electoral law doesn’t stop people from commenting on it. The PARTY chooses its candidates and the primary process (where those citizens declaring membership to a party select DELEGATES to choose that party’s candidate) is handled through each state at specified times. There are no legal mechanisms for any party to run a 2nd primary.

Strange times in 2020 as well, when, with only 2 caucuses and 2 primaries held, the GOP declared its undying love for heir leader, ignoring those who wanted to vote for their preferred candidate, whomever it might have been -

    >>> In February 2019, the Republican National Committee voted to provide undivided support to Trump. Several states canceled their primaries and caucuses.

As for Vice Presidents, why didn’t Trump choose Mike Pence again? Did Trump make a mistake the first time? Or have Republicans given up on the American process for selecting its leaders and instead turned to erecting a gallows to (de)select their VP, and engage in an insurrection to thwart the will of The People and install the mob’s choice?

Thinking Americans already know the answer to this. The truly pathetic state of the GOP and its drive to authoritarian rule is a shameful stain on American history. Hopefully this election will help to put this ugly chapter behind us.

P.S. A long and clear GOP path:

Well, if anyone missed this one there won't be another. Mr. Trump has turned down Fox News offer to host the next debate. In fact he refuses to have another debate with VP Harris anywhere or any time. What's his reasoning? He says he clearly won the last one so why bother?

This country has never seen a more cowardice POTUS. That stain will forever be in our history books... assuming you're from a state that is allowed to teach history and have books.

While on the surface, the pet-eating story seems comically like a b@tsh*t crazy, delusional old-man rant, there is a reason this particular falsehood was trafficked earlier by neo-Nazis. This is a proverbial racist dog-whistle, trying to paint a scary picture about Haitian migrants running rampant through lily-white suburbs. As with many of Trump's weird rants, often when they seem so bizarre, it's because he's not actually talking to you. He's talking to his base, which is primed to pick up on meanings you're not even thinking about. While you hear a crazy rant, they hear the Great White Hope (behind a layer of orange bronzer) who will save them from those people.

While it did seem crazy and desperate folks tried to use that to cast a villainous hue upon the messenger, it has proven to be TRUE. All over the news. It is difficult to be wrong but when you are, it’s time to simply own it. Just like those who pretended Hilary Clinton didn’t receive advance debate question notice of from cnn. For the record, I thought Kamala Harris did a good job of posing, using facial expressions, promising free money to everyone, and making stuff up. So she won the style portion. And Donald J Trump did a good job of honestly answering the uesyions, despite arguments from moderators (who refused to argue with his opponent), and poking massive holes in Harris’ flip-flop facade. He won the substance portion.
