Not being sarcastic. We need new powerbooks/ibooks for the holiday season. Im sitting on my butt waiting for a new powerbook and will continue to do so until a newer/faster one comes out preferably with blue tooth.
I don´t care. Give me a 667 at 2000. I don´t care if they lower the prices or introduce a new model and have to get rid of the old at reduced prices. I just want a PB that I can afford.
poor anders... I feel for ya man....
I was lucky to get my TiBook at that price, but it was a refreshed display model (i think) on 8/23/02 so I had to buy jag separately... but it was worth it.... (10% refresh+10% jag promo=>20% off $2500=$2000 + TAX )
no doubt scouts- this is truly silly to the 10th power. What apple is doing now would be like GM and Ford charging full price for 2002 models after they had just run their 0% finance this summer. Its No wonder that apple was selected as one of the worst run companies in America-seriously do they have any clue with what is happening with the economy? The only good that I can see coming from this delay is that they are building up their inventory with new ti units so that when they are announced they can begin shipping immediatly. We shall see-but until then we all know that their are hundres of laptop switchers not making the switch because the specs/price ratio on the ti are not compelling enough to the proverbial wintel user.
there will not be an update in the powerbook range - until Feb 2003...

Given how long it's been since the Tibook's last update I doubt Apple would make it the first time it broke it's update cycle. We will see an update before then as in March it's due for another bump.

- Who will host Macworld 2003? Steve, of course!
According to sources, as always, Steve will give the keynote address at MacWorld Expo SF 2003.
- Has production ended on the current PowerBook G4 models?
According to sources, Apple has begun manufacturing a new PowerBook G4(DVI) model. There is a possibility that the recently announced slot-loading SuperDrives by Matsu****a (Panasonic) will be used in the new PowerBooks. Prices for the current PowerBook G4 have dropped and inventory is decreasing as planned. It looks like Apple's plans for timing of an announcement will go unchanged.

It was NOT worst run companies, it was one of the companies with the worst boards.
Kittylitter, (that has to be one of the wierdest nicknames I have come across).
What makes you so sure it won't happen this year? Do you KNOW something, or are you speculating like the rest of us? All of the rumor floating around (what little there is) does tend to allow people to come to wildly variying possible outcomes. I'm just wondering why you are so sure. Do you have connectioins? Should we believe you above others?
Ok everyone, we can all stop looking for Powerbook updates, all rumors all false, no update for 3 more months (9 total), I don't care how much you want it or how stupid of Apple it is; it is confirmed...Mr. KittyLitter says so.
man I fell so much better now that I have a rock steady confirmation, mods might as well lock all new powerbook threads until Jan 1; they are no use KittyLitter has confirmed it. I know I won't even think about it until next year. What a relief!!!

not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but J&R is offering the PB 667 (M8591LL) for $100 off ($2399).
it's not advertised (i'm sure this is due to apple's strict reseller rules), but if you give them your email address, they'll send you a link to a page that offers it at the discount...

Er, let me rephrase that....
Product Stagnation at the same price levels, is bad.
Apple could still probably sell a good deal of Powerbooks if they lowered the cost of each of them by 300.00 or 400.00
*shrug*

Despite how crazy Apple may seem they are somehow managing to make money.
