Sorry, but that is all he has got for now. I will hit him up again on Monday. I was in the Apple Store Durham today, and I was amazed of how poorly the iPod's were displayed.
On my previous visits they were hooked up with the creature speakers and were on a larger display. Today they were on the smaller displays similar to the ones that hold the Palm/digital/video cameras.

You think they would display models that they are soon to replace/lower cost of alot better to get rid of them at the higher price.
I hope that the reason for the five gig being unavailable is that they are giving it a solid state scroll wheel and it will go for 199 when the ipod is updated soon.
If I remember correctly, Apple added alot of marketing dazzle and oomph to the original iMac by launching into colour cases and bumping the specs.
I'd like to see the iPod go a little further.
It would be nice to have some rainbow ambient LEDs that respond to your iPod music in an iTunes visualiser sort of way. Maybe a translucent case to achieve this?
Switchable on/off effect.
I'd like to see radio tuning. I'd love to hear Forest playing on my iPod (www.nottinghamforest.co.uk) Yep, I like my football
I'd of course like to see bigger hard drives.
And that leads onto what the hell is that kinda storage being used for?
HD backup.
A mobile device that can tie in with iPhoto.
Give the top model a colour screen. Excellent storage device for digital cameras. How many pics you could store!
Click, snap heaven!
Great pro' snapper device.
Play back yer picks for a rough idea of what yer got.
Digital wallet.
Simple games.
Firewire II?
Video previews...admittedly on a very small screen...
Just tried to buy 20Gig iPod here in the UK and there aren't any to be found within 150 miles of me (I know I should wait but I would've had 28 days to return it). The 2 main outlets say that it's due to a lack of supply from Apple. Apple Store here qouting 1 - 3 days. Should I order from Apple and send it back if they bring out a new one? Surely they would be glad to take more money from me for a bigger more expensive model?
Until now, I'm not yet very interested in an iPod, as I don't need to hear music everywhere. But an iPod II similiar to this device that can read CF cards (or connect to my camera via USB) so it can be used as a picture store might change my mind. Probably, an Apple solution would cost $599...
grr i was really hoping for a 199 ipod...maybe theres still a chance considering apple has agressively priced there monitors, powermacs and powerbooks...come on apple bring out the 199 ipod!
Oh well... The Apple store has not gone down yet. I suppose I am in for a longer wait, despite what macwhispers said.
So, I wonder if there could be any other functionality built in if there is no form-factor change... They would have notified journalists of some kind of press event if it was going to be a big deal....
Well, what I would like to see in the iPod is firewire recording from a video camera. I would not use it too much, but it would be handy for those times I want to make something and not record it to tape, and it would be available immediately. But, even more than this, Mp3 and Aiff line in recording. But not the cheap kind most players have these days where they only do up to 160VBR, but up to 320 in m3 and full quality 48 khz aiff, that would be the deal sealer or whatever you wanna call it for me. Color screen, nice, but not required. Also, what if they added bluetooth support? Not for syncing files, but just simply for your calender stuff and all? That way sometimes when I did not plug it in, it would still sync the data... Oh yeah, and being able to enter stuff in the calender on the pod. But the first two things are what I would like to see.

they say 10, 20, and 40 but no 5 as it is being discontinued by Toshiba.
macwhispers says Tuesday the 4th or the 11th at the latest.

<strong>I would like to see Apple's take on something like this:

NEW ipods - 5GB $294 CDN, 10GB $394 CDN, 20GB $494 CDN
The Apple Store Canada still has the 5GB listed as $479. (Unavailable)
Somebody's gonna be hearing from Cupertino soon...
$294 CDN is roughly equal to $199. US
Thy wishes have been granted.

20GB was $789.99, quite a drop

Maybe they did make a mistake and put in the US prices, but why the "NEW!" in red letters before all three model specs?
