Most racial groups are extactly that, "groups". White people hang out with each other no differently than other racial groups. I work in a predominantly Asian company with a few token white folks. During lunch-time, guess who hangs out together? The white folks do. Are any of us racist. Absolutely not. We just aren't included with the others. Intentional. Probably not. So, if a white group of Dean supporters gets their "friends" together to put up a parody site...shock, gasp...you have white faces on the site.
But, the more important question is why is that wrong? Are whites not allowed to rally, challenge or support? I truly believe the fact that this parody site only contains whites is purely an oversight.
My friends are not all white. My co-workers are all women. SO I really don't have a choice about hanging out with the opposite gender. However I can't say I do find it right that people self-segregate. You can learn a lot by discussing different and alternative viewpoints with people.
As for why it is wrong, I didn't say it was wrong for any group. Just a group that claims to want to represent all of us for a national office.

Man are you still at it? Look would it make you feel better if they put the token minority group in there just for show?
Look what you're arguing about means nothing. It was probably just an oversite. Your attempting to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
I'm all for equality ( for everyone ). So if Dean's people read threads like this his next commercial will probably have different groups in it. Then what will you bitch about?
"We seek an America where it is not enough to protect our own rights under the law, but where it is a duty and an obligation for each of us as Americans to make sure every American is equal under the law.
We seek an America where it is not enough to proclaim the words freedom, self-government, and democracy, but where it is a duty and a responsibility to participate together in common purpose with the sacrifice required of each of us to give those words meaning.
We seek an America where it is not enough that our own children have health care and good schools, but where our neighborsÕ children do as well.
This campaign is about who we are as Americans. It is the ideal of the American community that we seek to restore."
Does that sound like someone who's just appealing to whites?
Is it unreasonable to ask a campaign that wants to run the White House to include a few non-white faces in its messages?
nope. but i also find it just as disingenuous when a candidate feels they have to bring up and tote around one of each of the following to every public event to show how "diverse" they are:
african american
asian american
native american
woman (either pregnant or with young child)
elderly man and woman
gay man or woman
latino
person in wheelchair
veteran of any military action
representative of three major religions/faiths
and a partridge in a pear tree...
and, of course, they get extra points if they find a combination of those above. think of the money they save just on extra hotel rooms if they can consolidate the above categories and find a pregnant jewish single woman in a wheelchair, who was born in tokyo to an african father and a native american mother, but was actually raised by a pack of gay wolves in eugene oregon, and then later opened a house for orphaned jewish latino vietnam vets.
p.s. part of this probably stems from my design clients who constantly come back at me with comments like "that guy you chose for the photo next to the lead article looks 'too asian.' and can we find a woman who looks more jewish?" ACK!
