Well, I was reading the specs again and I noticed that the high end iMac on the Franch Apple Store has 512 MB of RAM, while the high end iMac on the US Store has 1 GB. This explains the weird pricing scheme of the "European iMacs" compared to the "American iMacs".

Anyway, the price drops on the 15 and especially the 17" iMac are more than welcome.

Have the UK prices dropped? I have no idea what the 17" model was priced at before, but now it's $1449.

Apple sured increased their profits on European sales when the Euro jumped against the dollar last year, since their products are dollar denominated.

Are you sure that is not the accidental release of the specs for the upcoming tablet? That would explain why the sight went down again while it was being fixed.

Apple is able to cut prices in Europe because of the drop in the US Dollar compared to the Euro. Apple is probably getting the same profit (in US Dollars) as they were when the Dollar was at it's peak.

Mac lovers in Europe are now in the position of having to watch the foreign exchange market as well as the Mac rumor boards to find the best time to buy. But the way things are going I think you'll be safe for a while.

    Enjoy!
