I started reading this thread and thinking "Oh boy, another asshole coming to rant about this or that..." I have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised that the original poster was able to get the problem taken care of.

PS in my personal reccomendation, always get applecare with a laptop....unlike a desktop (excluding imacs/emacs) When something goes out..you typically can't just have it fixed. It is like an operation. And yup I learned my lesson, my previous laptop's screen went out after 15months...and that is really expensive to fix. So factor it in to your purchase cost. Especially on a notebook!
