well . . . aparently they came up with . . . . or should I say: all that they could come up with: PAY STUBBS

Which indicates that Bush got paid.

So, if it turns out that he was not there, as would be indicated by other evidence and/or lack thereof, then it means that he was getting paid for being AWOL . . . . talk about abusing Guvment handouts!!

    anyway . . . just a spin . . .

Does anyone know about Bush getting bumped to the top of the waiting list for the National Guard? That seems like a bigger story than even going AWOL.

Pretty common practice for those who could manage it, wasn't it? This is essentially what Clinton did, wasn't it? Get a better draft number?

Common or not I'm not sure it's OK. I don't know about Bubba though.

Heh. It seems to me that the admin tried to do what it always does: ignore the issue until the news cycle moves on to something else. But considering Bush's numbers dropped in the last week in the wake of the Kay report, they needed to respond (hence, Bush on MTP).

It is curious, though, that this didn't get any traction until now. The story's been around forever. In addition, why is the admin so secretive about all of this? When will they release the COMPLETE military record? When will someone who was THERE come forward to either corroborate his story or challenge it?

    Cheers

They can't release it... there's probably too many negative comments in it about his performance for them to release it.

Also it's been said that perhaps alot of the file has been destroyed while the Shrub was governor.

    1. moore is a liar

    2. Clark is out

3: Kerry will never win because after seving in the war he betrayed the military in the worst way

as for Bush, he proudly served in the gaurd, if he was in there because of daddy, he woulda been a paper pusher, not a friggin pilot!!!

in the words of Howard Dean.....

"EEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHAAAAAAAAAAAA" take back the White House, Dean will win if they ice skating in hell

If he proudly served in the guard why hasn't he release his full military record like every other President or candidate that has served...

and if you've been following the story... he basically did get knocked down to desk duty after not attending physicals and not keeping his Pilot status... he gets a choice position and he can't even keep up with the requirements.

By the way... Kerry received 3 purple hearts.

So being wounded and serving your fellow soldiers in combat well is less important than when he got home and testified before congress saying what a horrible war it was?

And Bush gets out of going to vietnam and almost a 3rd of his requirements, leaves early to go to busniess school and we're supposed to respect HIS service more than Kerry's?

Are you taking the same pills that Rush is?

    Hmm,..

GWB put his @$$ on the line serving in the National Guard. Hell, he can barely speak. So I fail to see how his learning to fly fighter jets was an attempt to stay safe.

Don't you have to fly to put that pampered ass on the line?

    http://www.memphisflyer.com/content....834&onthefly=1

MEMPHIS ? Two members of the Air National Guard unit that President George W. Bush allegedly served with as a young Guard flyer in 1972 had been told to expect him and were on the lookout for him. He never showed, however; of that both Bob Mintz and Paul Bishop are certain.

The issue of Bush?s presence in 1972 at Dannelly Air National Guard base in Montgomery, Alabama ? or the lack of it ? has become an issue in the 2004 presidential campaign.

Recalls Memphian Mintz, now 63: ?I remember that I heard someone was coming to drill with us from Texas. And it was implied that it was somebody with political influence. I was a young bachelor then. I was looking for somebody to prowl around with.? But, says Mintz, that ?somebody? -- better known to the world now as the president of the United States -- never showed up at Dannelly in 1972. Nor in 1973, nor at any time that Mintz, a FedEx pilot now and an Eastern Airlines pilot then, when he was a reserve first lieutenant at Dannelly, can remember.
