Well, ain't I the dumb-ass! Thank you, foad. It never even occurred to me to do that. I always have the pop-up blocker turned on, so...

    Well, that's a relief.

Okay, Safari is now officially 100% cool. I shall fling Explorer...

I like the new sizes for form elements. I've seen a number of micro radio buttons and menus. No full CSS formatting, but at least we're makin' progress.

Looks like the PHPMyAdmin peeps will need to tweek the Mac CSS again.

Does it do flash stuff any faster? I know the old safari sucks for flash, can someone try and see if they are faster?

Yup. Ripoff! Apple is really pushing us to upgrade our old OS. But I refuse to pay for Panther until it comes to me for free with a nice new PowerBook. I guess I'll have to stick with Safari 1.1 or go back to Camino.

You know what I was most excited about? They finally fixed the One Tab Bug! Before..when I had multiple tabs open and closed all but one, UNLESS I had "Always Show Tab Bar" set in the prefs, the tab bar would vanish (obviously) and the bottom edge of the window would scoot up too

NOW...when I go to one tab the window adjusts without moving up (just like in Camino).

Now I don't have to have the Tab Bar on all the time!

It really is the little things in life ain't it?

You're not a dumbass, pscates. A dumbass is a Web designer who uses pop-ups against better judgement.

Personally, I refuse to patronize websites that require pop-ups. Pop-ups stink.

Not all is positive for me . . .

now typing on these boards is atrocious!!!

slow and stuttering, and deleting with backsteps is almost a half a second lag!!!

    anybody else experiencing this?

    . . . . I'm running iTunes at the same time . . . could it be that?

Having the same problem as I reported earlier... Onto Pith Helmet however. I got it installed by fixing the info.plist file from Safari. What you do is you show package contents on Safari and open info.plist. Change the part that says-

    <key>CFBundleVersion</key>

    \t<string>125</string>

change the 125 to 100 and save. Install Pith Helmet then change back. Then follow the previous instructions to enable it. Hope this helps.

I must be missing something. I have turned on the highlight links in the advanced preference pane. If I go to the apple store for example and hit tab it doesn't ever select any drop down boxes. I press option and tab and still no luck. I've tried here on AI and I can't get it to work for element other than links and text boxes. Help for the stupid please.

Just downloaded trough Software Update. Immediately upon finishing the download it says it can't expand the file due to permissions.

    I'm pissed!

Now I'll download it manually, and do it that way.

I've been hanging out for the resume downloads feature for some time...

Perhaps I need to repair permissions... m.

Have you turned on full keyboard access in the System Preferences? I think that by default Mac OS X itself only tabs to text entry fields.

I'm downloading Safari update as I type so I can't check this yet.

Ahh, that's so much better. I have a WebObjects app that I made to track inventory in our office. In Firebird I could tab to all the different fields in the form, including the drop down lists, and entering data went very fast. It always bugged me that I couldn't do the same in Safari. Till now!

If you've fiddled with the UMASK setting for the Finder or made changes using the TinkerTool Permissions pane, then that could be the source of your problem. Software Update assumes that the downloaded file will be world readable. Software Update will work again if run under the default settings, and then you can switch it back to whatever you want. Or you can decompress and install the update manually, authenticating where you need to.

If you haven't fiddled with that setting, then never mind!

Hey, i just noticed that when downloading something, an icon displays live progress bar. And i don't mean safari icon or icon in downloads window, but actual "file being downloaded" icon.

Also, i'm not sure if that is something new or not, but iChat resumes downloads as well.

Ah, the wonderful world of dynamic binding and frameworks... upgrade Safari, and iChat gets increased functionality...

Okay, it seems the new safari doesn't show the download rate, only the time remaining, is there a way to change that? also, you can pause downloads, but can you REMOVE individual ones?
