Tonight I will be staying in to debate, with myself, the relative merits of taking the skin off slices of dry sausage and leaving the skin on (prior to eating.)

Most types are better with skin off - although it is bother to remove it. What sausages did you buy?
Chinney, it's a cheap French saucisson sec from the supermarket. I always take the skin off myself, I have to say, but I won't judge those who decide to leave it on if, for example, they were in a hurry, or they were having a picnic in the dark- or even if they couldn't really bothered with the hassle.
The anti-Christian idealoges that cook up this kind of rehtoric have come unhinged in their thinking. Out of one side of their mouth they will tell you that violence---even Gallo and Scorcesse style garbage is just dandy in a movie.

I reject your suggestion, made a number of times in this thread, that criticism of Mel's movie is made by anti-Christian ideologues. There are many Christians who have very strongly disliked it and have criticized it on exactly the grounds with which you disagree. Many other non-Christians who have criticized it have used thoughtful arguments, not anti-Christian diatribes. Your suggestion is wrong.

It's annoying sometimes, no doubt about that.
To stay on the topic, one of the best "saucisson sec" from France is called "Jesus". It comes from Lyon.

Annoying yes, but I almost always regret it if I leave the skin on. There are a few types of dry sausage with thin, less chewy skin, however, where you can get away with it.
I find, however, that it can be hard to find good sausage. In respect of sausage for frying - not terribly good for you I know, but I like it just the same - the best stuff I have ever had from around here is from a market in Montreal, just around the corner from where I used to live. (Atwater Market) But that is 100 miles away from me now.
t; the satan character is actually more disturbing than the violence.
Yes, I'm sorry if this was already discussed earlier (hadn't seen the film until just Tuesday and haven't waded through the discussion completely), but I'm surprised not to hear as many people talk about the satan figure. Our church has been riding the "Passion fad" for a little while now, even dedicating small group discussions on Sunday night to the historic context surrounding the four gospels. But no one's brought up the satan image at all. They keep going with this "it's so strong; I just came out feeling like a truer Christian, more convicted in my faith than ever." Nonsense!! I saw the movie, and it's a proverbial platter of Hollywood Cheese! How many times can we use slow motion gratuitously; how long can we draw out the procession to Golgotha? Entirely melodramatic, but I think with Gibson's Orthodox Catholic perspective, this is how it should be (to him). I felt embarrassed for him, though. It could have been quite a film had he actually let people edit it to the standards of a good film. Yes, he wanted to be true to the Bible, but making the Gospel into a 2-hour gory, mushy-emotional fest is inappropriate.
But, on the other hand, the injection of "satan" is interesting. It is not in the Bible as I know it; at least, not at the points in which Gibson saw fit to put it in. He does not taunt Jesus at Gethsemane, but rather at a point at the beginning of his ministry. I don't know; it will be misleading to people unexposed to Christian doctrine. I hope they take it merely as the film it is, and NOT the absolute truth.

That's a long way to go for a good sausage, Chinney. Fried sausage, though. Now you're talking. I'm fortunate in that there are plenty of excellent Turkish shops near my place, and slices of Turkish sausage fried up until crispy and distributed liberally throughout a good rocket salad make for one of the best mouth things it is possible to have without taking a wrap of Rohypnol to the Models One Easter party. Nothing beats fried slices of spicy chorizo, though, in my opinion.

Anyhow, haven't seen "The Passion" yet, but I'm going to in a few weeks (when it opens in Denmark) and if this thread is still alive - and on topic - by then, I'll tell you what I think about the movie (if it's not, I'll just post on my own forum instead )

I ain't mockin' Jesus of Nazareth here, believe me. Jesus is, and say this in all sincerity, one of my heroes.
And yes, I am funny. Very.
