YEP! I hope Jobs gets up on stage and says, "it's time to change a sig file in rumorland, here's to YOU Fran!....the new 5 ounce Newton, Ghz toy! Now shutup already."

(That was Jobs saying shut up, not me)

If only I had more than a $35 gift certificate to spend at the Apple Store.

Oh well. I'm still going to MWNY, even if this show IS good enough to carry us through next year.

Grrr, I hate Apple! Why did they do this? Now I'll NEVER get a good link to the QT keynote video stream! Everyone and their mother is going to be on it.

Somehow, I believe, ppl here are getting overjoyed.

"Beyond the rumor sites" does not have to mean they will deliver something we have not thougth of. This is just a marketing slogan after all.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I just realized what apple's doing. they're turning the slashdot effect back on US!!! soon, every geek on earth with start flooding appleinsider, thinksecret, macosrumors, spymac and others to see what apple is talking about, and bring us ALL DOWN!!!

damn, steve, you really ARE brilliant!

either that, or in the cacophony of people trying to anticipate what apple will unveil, any "leaks" will simply get drowned out in the throng! think bout it -- even if someone came on here saying that have the cure for cancer (iCure, 'natch!), your head is already swimming like mine with dreams of quad g4's, lcd imacs, and such.

But imagine the marketing blunder if Apple doesn't deliver.

Well, I checked <a href="http://www.spymac.com."; target="_blank">www.spymac.com. They know shite. Remember the bathroom-Newton2 they predicted for the event when the iPod came out?

Well, now there's this thingy iWalk on their page. They say, there's a connector they don't know, so this could be the new Gigawire.

Hey. They just fücked themselves. Gigawire is supposed to be Firewire2 or wireless Firewire. Okay, if it's wireless, why does it need a connector? And if it's FireWire2, Apple would be INCREDIBLY stupid to change the connector! What are you gonna do with all your FireWire harddisks and CD burners? FireWire2 would have the same connector as FireWire1, just as it is with USB1 and 2.

    4 days to Macworld.

Fasten seat belts. Phil Schiller rolls on stage.

Of course, it depends on how you interpret todays little message from Apple. Considering the rumor sites have reported pretty much nothing (Other than supposed G5 speeds and vague flapping in the direction of an LCD iMac), perhaps the message is just saying that information on the new hardware is way beyond the rumor sites?

This is such good fun, though. Apple is obviously teasing an important market - the legions of Apple followers who read the rumor pages are always going to be the first buyers.

It's the most excited I've been about an Apple launch since the unveiling of the iBook, so it had better not all be marketing hype.

One thing troubles me, though - that it's unlikely any exciting new 2002 machines will be booting OS X by default.

heh, heh. what about MacOS X on intel. would that blow your mind?

steve's a bit upset with microsoft right now, what better than to load that Dell up with OS X!

doubtful though, apple needs hardware sales.

Perhaps the high end machines will be booting it. Not all have to switch over at once.

    True, so true.

Apple has really thrown down the gauntlet, so to speak. It is time for AI to get up on its trusty steed and joust.

..maybe the surprise will be that Steve will show us a new sweater? A second one he bought before x-mas, not just the normal black turtle neck?

There is no way Steve can present something that surprises us, since the rumours have gone berserk recently, so no chance he'll make that promise true.

I can imagine but just one thing that is totally unexpected and that everybody commented as impossible since months: a better theme for X.

But as people are closing that gap in private there is not too much he can deliver.

For once Apple turned on the marketing machine and tried to boost new products before anyone had a glimpse of what it might turn out to be. SO be it.

But they better not fall behind their own campaign.

A well priced and thought out new iMac would do, it will not blow away people, but having seen the iPod and the hype around it you learn to go for cookies instead of cakes. :o

BTW A new PowerMac with new case and upped cpu would come handy in to raise interest IYAM.

For some reason, I doubt that new themes for X are the breakthrough Apple is hyping.
