The 1.8's are affected as of now. From what I've been hearing the 1.8's are going to the iMacs for a while.
The dual 2.0s aren't doing to bad right now. Ironically I ordered from ADC and was told 10 days.... I got it in 1 day. Perhaps cause of being pissed for not being able to getmy 2.5... but either way... it is a 90nm proc too.
I don't think the 2.0 are 90 nm, afaik, they are the 970, not the 970 fx. The fx has the production problem. The 2.5 being a 90 nm was my argument to order that one, not the 2.0.

Apparently all Power Macs now shipping are 90nm. The CPU ID in the current 1.8 and 2.0 models is identical to the 2.5s, but different from the previous generation AND the very earliest rev-B 2.0s. My guess is that Apple used up the stock of 1.8 and 2.0GHz 130nm parts early in the producion run, and all are now 90nm.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
YOu can verify your chip a few different ways:
in the terminal.... ioreg -l | grep "cpu-version"
0300x0300 is 90nm 970fx
0220x0220 is 130nm 970
I just did those #'s from memory, but its something like that. I'm on my pc now so I can't verify them specifically.
Also if you run dnetc it tells you which processors you have. And yes mine says 970fx 2.0. My friend bought one of the first dual 1.8's and it is a 970... can someone who has just bought one verify they are 90nm now? (use the ioreg command).
My original ship date was July 28th. That was changed on July 27th to Sept 9th. I just checked again (as Sept 9th is around the corner) and my new ship date is now October 8th.
I'd say there are some significant supply issues, and possibly even technical ones with the new 2.5s. As I mentioned the other day, the Chicago downtown store had no 2.5s on display (although they swore they were "in the building")
I sure do hope none of these dual 2.5's are bad... otherwise you'll be waiting a lot longer!
(congrats on the shipping btw)
From what I heard today, they are anything BUT bad. A friend of mine recently got his and apparently it's amazing. He used to have a dual 2Ghz but sold it as soon as he got the 2.5. He works with video and said that the difference in processing performance is stunning. He's ordered several more for his company based on his first one, so I'd say that's a ringing endorsement.

Think so eh? Why don't you go take a look at all the 2.5's that have bad procs and mobos on the apple discussion boards. People's estimated time of getting their machine back from repairs is about 4-8 weeks
This can't continue can it? Theres no way I'm ordering one 'til these things are immediately available.
6800ultra's appearing yet?
guess I'll check back in november or something... thanks apple, way to go.
I got a telephone call from the ADC yesterday, with a confirmed shipping date of "on or before Oct 8th" and a big apology. I was quite shocked. and indeed very pleased, to get that. Very courteous and polite. They also said that there would be no more slips in the schedule. Here's hoping.

You're waiting or you're waiting. It doesn't matter. You'll get it sooner if you get in line now. Apple doesn't charge your CC until they ship it. They may do authorizations when it gets close to shipping, but they don't actually charge it.
I split my order of G5 + 6800 to get my G5 quicker. I received my machine on 9/2 with the ATI 9600XT card and I was originally told I'd get the 6800 shipped by 9/17. Unfortunately now I have a shipdate of 10/15 for the 6800

i was just wondering if anyone with this 9/7 release recieved a notice of shipment
i ordered mine july 1st and "supposedly" am supposed to have it shipped today, no notification yet.

That's good news since I'm ready to order, but, like dirk, I want it shipped as soon as they charge my credit card.
