BTO? I hope you didn't add Apple Sock RAM. It's WAAYYYY overpriced. I recommend Crucial's Sock RAM. It's much more reasonable. I think you'll need at least 512 (preferably 1 GB) to run OS X nicely on that Sock.

These socks are way overpriced, Apple doesn't understand, if they want to increase their sock marketshare they will need a lower priced switcher sock.

I don't want to sound like a heel, but as an off-the-cuff comment: Apple just needs to come out with a low-cost, toe-less legwarmer .. not everybody wants the all-in-one design.

I just hope they're not assembled in sweatshop conditions.

And they seriously need to think about adding back in meta-tarsal file data in OS X!

Rumor mongers say lately that Apple is in the last test phase of the super-duper, rotating at 10000 rpm using energy from ambient light, and offering precious service to the user .... iPants! No crash when you need it to work, and moves the "head(s)" optimally to "satisfy" demand, no wait,... offer, oh no wait... whatever. Not satisfied yet?

With all the 20th anni talk all year, this was the perfect time to release the 20th anni iPod legwarmers and free download of flash dance from the ITMS.. But another missed opportunity. So much for the 20th anni

They should've been called SO X.

Same old story. Great product. Lousy marketing. Will they never learn?

There are reports of white spots on the socks after they have been washed. White spots on the display area.

I'm loving the fact that these socks are coming to Canada with built in heaters, but do they come wireless or am I going to half to pay extra for an internal bluetooth module. I'll probably get screwed on the exchange rate again too. Damn you Apple!

Just remember you bought those socks here in North America. Don't go plugging the heaters in if you fly to Europe, they have a different power supply.

I just got an e-mail saying my socks have shipped... but tne minutes later I got another e-mailing sayiing "Sorry, but they haven't shipped and the shipping date has now been pushed back another month!"

Dammit, I knew this would happen, Apple announcing a technology they were yet to quite figure out.

    iDunno

I hear they're having problems scaling these things with the new fab process. It will probably be a while before we see even a bumped thread count with this model.

Think Secret seems to think that the socks actually get way too hot. The Apple Design Team tried liquid cooling but they just got soggy. So now they're talking about installing Peltier ThermoElectric Modules into the soles.

This explains why the socks you're wearing cost less than the ones your iPod's wearing.

You guys are impossible to please.

The Apple socks are the BMW of socks. If you don't like them you should go buy the blue socks of death.

My mate reckons he can knit a sock, and it will be just as powerful as the iPod sock... but for half the price. I told him he was dreaming!

"The iPod uses an experimental Barbie-colored fuzzy case called a "sock". There is no evidence that people want to use these things." (John Dvorak)

"It would appear that we have reached the limits of what it is possible to achieve with sock technology, although one should be careful with such statements, as they tend to sound pretty silly in 5 years." (John von Neumann)

"I think there is a world market for maybe five socks." (Thomas Watson of IBM)

Following on the HEELS of Apple iPod Sock announcement MicroSOCKS makes a press release, "Apple iPod Socks are going in the wrong direction. We at MicroSOCKS, we believe in open standards 'meaning our propriatary standard'." - Bill G.

"These SOCKS will cause Apple to go out of business within 1 year" - Michael D.

MicroSOCKS also states they are releasing SOCKS 1.0 Beta. Our prerelease versions that not only are socks, but gloves, a scarf, a hat and leg warmers - because people want choice. MicroSOCKS has been working with Knitting Partners to make these available to multiple companies.

MicroSOCKS has also decided to add this new technology to their upcoming release of MicroSOCKS Sewing Server. This will allow companies to make their own brand of SOCKS - again, because here at MicroSOCKS, we are all about choice.

Apple has been sued, yet again, by Socks Corp for breaching their original agreement, that Apple would never enter the Sock market... this latest suit could delay the rollout of the EU iSock Store

There is still no release date for an Australian iSock Store.
