nvidia sucks. how can you guys say ati sucks when you use an apple comp which most likely has an ati in it. further more you post on an apple site. since apple uses ati doesnt that contridict itself
Seriously: ATI and NVIDIA have been leapfrogging each other for years. They have different approaches, which simply means that Apple has a real choice of GPUs for any given use. They take full advantage of that choice.
If people want to engage in GPU comparison fests, fine, but without empirical data and specifics about performance (and performance at which task), quality and reliability there's really nothing to talk about. "ATI R000LZ!!1" "No, NVIDIA R000LZ!1!" is not a discussion.
here you go i have solved it. here are 4 different reviews on the x800 xt overall they blow the 6800 away
even if they didnt read the last page ATI is releasing an x850. so even if the6800 ultra could match up to the x 800 it will surely never be anything as compared to the x850

See cuz the 850 has got another 50 so it must be that much better.
And by the time the 850 comes out, NVidia will probably have something else as well.
I also noticed that all the sites you mentioned DID NOT EVEN SPEAK OF SLI. Convenient, that.
In addition, if you look at the trusted reviews link you posted, you'll notice that the 6800U beat the ATI in most tests.. Woops.
Moreover, as far as I know, this is a mac-oriented forum. As OS X users, most of us are concerned with openGL performance. After all.. what are we going to use the card for? games? HAH!
Seriously, ATi needs to be boycotted for it's idiotic naming scheme alone.
Ah, but the key is to view it as entertainment. As long as these kiddies keep pushing their respective companies to make the newest-hottest-gotta-have-it, we, my friend, get to reap the benefits.
Except now with CoreImage...now my card can actually do something worthwile (other than the 2% it spends pushing pretty Halo pixels)

well going against all popular belief i do have a life. i have a g/f and i play guitar for/front a band. and it doesnt stop there i have been in about 4 other bands as well. i run a website and at the same time i still manage to hole down a job. hows that for a life?
The Advantage of SLI does not seem to be worth the money, in most games it only gets a few fps over a X850 XT PE. All in all there isn't much difference, a few fps here and there. Have a look at tests over at Tom's Hardware.com
SLI is for 3d apps such as Maya, and one contact at Softimage has shunned SLI as it is not worth the price that you have to pay. A Pair of nVidia Quadro FX 4400s are very expensive.

Well as with multiple CPUs, things must be coded differently to deal with multiple GPUs.
SLI came out (again) fairly recently, so it's no wonder only Doom3 really utilizes it.
As GPUs succomb to moore's law and start to lag behind, cards will end up having multiple GPUs by themselves--it's just inevitable. At that point, everyone will be using multiple GPU's, not just NVidia, and therefore games will respond to SLI better.
Also, I bet DirectX will decline in popularity, as DX10 will be longhorn only (which will probably flop). OpenGL, which ATi has always neglected, will be the victor in the GL wars.

And expect what...?

NVIDIA RULEZ! bwah ha ha ... because i nearly scored with a *ahem* chick that used to work at Nvidia. *sigh* i was not as experienced back then
I personally have never met anyone that worked for ATI
....

edit-2 oh boy here come those repressed memories... i'm not listening... la la la la la la la la la

What a stupid comment. What the hell kind of sense would it make for the same person to argue two oppsing points of view? Ever think of that?
