The new Macs are slated to include a fresh breed of processors from IBM and Freescale, which have caused, and may continue to cause, delays.
The more I think about it, the happier I am that Apple is kicking IBM and (eventually) Freescale to the curb. IBM's continued delays have cost Apple market share, something IBM seems to have in common with Motorola (now Freescale).
I hated Intel as much as the next Mac loving computer user, but it'll be nice to get supplies of the newest processors at the same time Dell, HP, Gateway, and other PeeCee makers do. Then we'll really see if OS X can beat Windoze Vista running on similar hardware.
It's kinda funny that some hackers beat Steve to the market with OSX86! I installed it on my son's E-Machine. If it gets a little more stable and the fat binaries pan out, I'm not sure I will ever buy a Mac again. Who cares if Macs have a useful life of 10 years. I'll just buy a cheapo current technology screamer, use it for a year, throw away and repeat.
I'm sure it's got Steve wondering at nights.
You know what would be even easier on your wallet? When it's time for a new computer, just wait outside you local Apple store after everyone has gone for the night. Then pick up a nice sized rock and chunk it through the window. Run in, grab whichever Mac/Macs you want and run out before the cops show up. This way you can have a new Mac whenever you want and never have to pay for it! I'm not sure you'll ever buy a Mac again. Who cares if a Macs have a useful life of 10 years. Just take what you want, use it for a year, throw away and repeat! I'm sure it'll have Steve wondering at nights.
I think he's just talking about genuine Macs with intel being similar hardware to Dell's latest and greatest. I don't think he's talking about running OSX on a generic PC like the guy I quoted a moment ago.

Oops, you're right. Wrong post. It's too early for me. I'll have to correct it.
Let's keep the vulgarity out of the thread, please.
PM each other insults, if you'd like.
Unfortunately these threads at AI are disintegrating into these, 'Sky is Falling' posts buy the uninformed or vulgar pettifoggery, way too often.
On topic ? Apple is one of the most innovative comsumer electronics companies on earth. It is no surprise things do not go as planned for them. Things are much better for Apple to make new software and hardware then MS trying to get Visnada out the door.
