Now that AppleInsider has solidly established itself as reliable, even more so than the venerable ThinkSecret, people will be able to make better purchasing decisions.
Also, I think the Apple hardware release cycle will become more rapid now that they are shifting over to Intel.

Thanks. That really was what I was doing. I would hope more people could understand, but apparently we have a lot of folks who feel the need to stroke their egos by calling people like me stupid.
Like I said, I'll see how the intel transition goes. If I feel I need to upgrade in a year or so, then I will. I don't expect the value of my machine to plummet. Ebay values are surprisingly good for this model. I figured it would tank, but apparently not. In the spirit of my decision to keep it, I just ordered an additional 1GB of RAM from OWC, bringing me to 1.5GB. Might as well improve this one even more.
