And Rolo was right about one thing (points to stock ticker on front of AppleInsider) up almost 9 bucks a share since Rolo started his/our journey...
They just throw a computer behind the screen (somewhere between iMac and Powermac capabilities) and then add TV functionality. I really wish I could use my iMac as a computer/tv simultaneously, like a picture-in-picture deal. I could work like usual and resize the TV window down small and place it where was best for me, like with DVD player or Quicktime.
I really don't watch much TV, but this kind of functionality would be uber handy on football sundays and hockey games I want to see.
Except that a TV monitor really makes a poor computer monitor. Apple's 23" Cinema Display has more pixels than a full-resolution 1080 TV monitor. I hardly see the point then of using such a display in PIP mode. Since you prefer your computer to your TV, it would make much more sense to get an Apple 30" Cinema Display. It will allow four (4) simultaneous 720p images onscreen at full-resolution. Take away three of these, you have a lot of computer real estate and a darned good TV picture.

I think Rolo was pretty straightforward about his information from the get go. He never said "Confirmed" He never said he saw 'actual' product, that he was "Making Plastics", he never posted elevator photos and he didn't pretend to get an Apple Marketing guy 'drunk'. He simply stated what he had heard, and that he trusted the source. More specifically, he said that he had an inside track on some information that ThinkSecret had and that they were continuing to investigate before they posted. He was basically giving this Forum the scoop on that info... with no promises.
You all got so frothy over the possibilities that you now want to crucify him. He never added flames to the fire. He simply participated in the very lively and interesting disscussion that ensued based on the probability of such a product.
Not that I believe(d) the exact rumor per se, But I still see a similar capability very much as a possible somewhere down the road. If the current iMac is a 20" LCD with an on board computer, essentially contained in the bezel. It is not so radical a concept to think the apple could marry their 30" or a larger screens to an integrated CPU as well. The 20" iMac resoultion (1680 by 1050) isn't far off HDTV specs anyway. Not to mention the new iMacs DO support a 23" additional display now.
