3M has been making that foil for years. I don't think it would be too hard to make your own modification to make the hardware quieter if you need to upgrade your drive.

I've been using Barracudas for over four years and really haven't had a heat issue. Do you mean the Seagate notebook drives? Barracudas are desktop drives, the Momentus line is for the notebooks, and I have little to no experience with them.
Yes on the product names for Seagate. My mod was a WesternDig. Scorpio (Raptor/Caviar are the desktop names) 60gb 5400rpm, modded into iBook g4 933mhz. Nice and quiet, heat tolerance good, working well for just about 1 year or so now, and the small rubber attachments alongside the metal bracket that holds the hard disk in the iBook g4 are working well.
Was using the 40gb 4200rpm original Hitachi that came with the iBook as a USB2.0 external drive, it died about 8 months ago.
I would forsee no further need for sound dampening particularly if there is even a slight increase in heat. I wonder if this will be the same for current/new MacBooks. With the latest MacBook Core2Duo though, that would be awesome with a very simple non-warranty-violating 7200rpm drive.

I wish they would've updated the camera more than they did. Everyone in my office covers up the camera with a post it note because they don't like the camera pointed at them all the time. Its kinda freaky. Kinda like the 1984 book. They should enable a physical device to cover the camera, like a metal slider or something. Does it bother anyone else that there might be a one-way conference going on without your knowledge? Maybe we're just paranoid. Maybe not.

Is this standard practise? I presume this means that one wouldn't be able to upgrade the CPU themselves?
