I'd hoped we'd let it go, but you had to say something like this.
1. As is obscenely obvious from my rants above, I did indeed look it up, and well
2. Informal, unspoken conventions such as this aren't "easily looked up," as evidenced by other people's posts in this thread; they are, however, very easily clarified
3. What is certainly least "frustrating" is to avoid artificial, misunderstanding-based and likely unenlightened-emotions-driven arguments like the ones you insist upon
I propose we call it a misunderstanding, and respectfully disagree, as gentlemen (I am certainly not a gentleman, but I think we can fake it and get away with). This, of course, means no accusations or attacks (however implicit). Cheers.
If you simply posted your last paragraph, then I could believe you meant it.

Yeah, you're right, sorry; but you can surely understand how your previous responses angered me a bit--let me have that past vent. But let's have peace.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but it's the overall posting on this that gets annoying, not yours in particular.
I suppose I should have properly posted that as a separate post, rather than tagging it to yours.

On the contrary, it is easily found. The first link from the Google search (below) has more information than I ever wanted to know about the world's various seasons.
PS: This thread has both informative and entertaining.
What's even more interesting is that March used to start the first month of the calender year. This is why February has the fewest days and gets the extra every 4th year... it's at the end of the colander; and Sept means 7 and Oct means 8, when they now appear as the 9th and 10th months, respectively.
And even more interesting is the 32-bit Epoch time problem that will occur in 2038, or Y2K38 for those in the know. In other words, a new Y2K-like "bug". You have just under 31 years before we're affected. Quick; start training your childrens!
Ok, I'm just off on a tangent now.
Moving on...
I predict that Leopard, iPhone, a new OS X-based iPod Video w/ widescreen and wi-fi, and new & improved Mac lines will be released at the WWDC this June.
I know it seems like a lot, but Leopard functionality will mainly cover the Mac OS X features and the new iPod features will really only be a phone-less version of the iPhone, so nothing revolutionary on that front. In other words, there will be plenty of time for Mac and Mac OS X revelations.
I was truly expected another "Showtime"-like event to come sometime in February, as I never expected the WWDC to be moved up to the Spring*.
I expect that we will see 10.4.9 within the next 4 weeks. I also give a 10% chance--though mostly wishful thinking--that Apple will replace it's aging microkernel. I see this to be a huge factor in competing against both *nix and NT server environments.
* Classification determined by the US standard of astronomically based solstices and equinoxes.

If this is correct, then valuation of AAPL will lilely be trashed by the time June rolls around.
I agree, but I don't think that Apple would move the WWDC up a season if it planned to release new Macs just a month or two prior.
If you're referring to the fact that last year's WWDC was in August, I would point out that it usually happens in June, if my memory serves me correctly. I think the August WWDC was an anomaly.
You could be right, but I'm hoping that WWDC in June is just seeing that event returned to it's "regular" time, and not because that's when Leopard is to be released.
I could nevertheless see WWDC as being for Leopard, but if that's the case, I sure hope Apple's got something else going between now and then, or my AAPL investment's in trouble city..

Well, look at the bright side. If APPL tanks, it will give the rest of us a chance to get in. People like me will no longe be forced to sulk in the shadows mumbling "I KNEW I should have bought at $50...I KNEW it..."
A thread about the announced date of the WWDC turns into an argument about the seasons?
I stand back in awe.
Dude, totally. Like W.T.F. ...This clearly edges (get the pun? heh!) out the "EDGE is 2.5 vs EDGE is 2.75" off-tangent arguments in some other iPhone-related thread.
I don't want to get astronomical, but the day the month begins is arbitrary. Starting the season there makes no sense.
Yes. *Thumbs up*. I am a strong supporter of pagan-resurgence movements in the world today. Defining seasons by Gregorian/Julian calendar dates is totally ridiculous. That's why our pagan pre-Christian ancestors were wise enough to celebrate solstices and equinoxes because that was a pretty much constant, clearly observable (without our modern technology) yearly events. Seasons were generally broadly defined as being between the solstices and equinoxes, with *COMMON SENSE* understanding of the latency between, say the winter solstice, and really cold days afterwards. Of course *COMMON SENSE* also told them that between solstices and equinoxes the "seasons" would have variations from year to year due to natural global climate variations.
If you all continue behaving like this, you naughty kids, I swear, I *wont* start any official countdown thread!!! BEHAVE!!!! Otherwise, spankings all around,,,!!!!! mmm. Spankings. Kinky, Umm... I mean, uh,, .. umm...

We don't need Leopard to keep the company steady.
Apple said nothing at Macworld.
They have the opportunity to do so between now and the dev conf.
If Apple is going to have an ad during the Superbowl, they have an opportunity to make some announcements then.
I just hope they won't be using it for the iPhone instead, or just for AppleTv.
But, new widescreen iPods, new computers, software, etc. should get the juices flowing.

Even the Christian holidays were moved to the pagan dates. Christ's birthday and death aren't correct. They were moved as well.

Being British, I've very strong views on rain.

Can we argue about the weather next?

Assuming you like it, you would love Seattle.

Yeah, lets argue about weather or not Leopard will be released before the end of Spring.

Even more interesting is the Decimal Time used by the Chinese and, more recently, the French: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal_time#History

It's OK. Steve called and said the WWDC has been cancelled. Something about Mac users having lost their fucking minds.
I declare that from this point onwards all sub-forums on AppleInsider be merged into one big "Permanent Insanity" forum.
