The diagonal black line used to happen to me in regular coverflow view until I upgraded video cards. Now I don't get it. Haven't check with this new itunes though.
What video card did you have before you upgraded? I have the stock Radeon 9000 pro that came with the PowerMac G4 dual 1.25.
The strange thing about this is the line only appears in full screen mode... Someone posted a pic of this issue in the Apple discussion forums.. Here's the link to his pic, my issue looks identical.
I had a different problem. The TV shows I had ripped into iTunes were sorted by show, and season and episode like this:
Under "INFO"
Name = Episode 101 - Death has a Shadow
Under "Video"
TV Show = Family Guy
Season = 1
Episode ID = Death has a Shadow
Episode # = 101
iTunes used to put all of one type of show together, then arrange by season, then arrange by name (which had an increasin episode number), now, I just get it to group shows and seasons and it jumbled up all my episode numbers in a season. Anyone else have this and / or know how to fix it?
If you do a get-info on a single "Weird Al" Yankovic track, you'll see there is a new tab in the info window labelled "sorting". Select that tab, and there are a number of new "tags" (presumably these are stored in iTunes' database file rather than in each individual file's tags) for sorting purposes only. If you put "Weird Al", without the quotes, into the "sort artist" field, then the track will be sorted with the Ws when you sort by artist.
Annoyingly, it would seem you cannot edit the "sort" tags of multiple tracks all at once. You have to edit each file individually. At least the info window has a "next" button.
I also thought this was annoying, but I knew they had to have a solution for that. Here is how you apply that change to all the tracks of an artist. I'll go with the example of "Weird Al" Yankovic, although I have none myself:
Select a single "Weird Al" track
get info
go to the sorting tab
here you see the Artist as "Weird Al" Yankovic, next to that under Sorting Artist, type Weird Al Yankovic, press OK.
Now for the trick, Right-Click the file you just edited, which will have moved to it's new sort location.
At the bottom of the contextual menu is a new menu "Apply Sort Field"
For the Weird Al example, you would select Same Artist.
A dialogue will come up, press ok, now all the "Weird Al" Yankovic songs will sort as Weird Al Yankovic.
Just thought I'd clear that up. It really isn't an amazing feature, but when you need it, it's helpful. I used it mostly on a few album titles, ...Until We Felt Red by Kaki King, and "Volunteered" Civility & Professionalism by the Soccer Team.

I have my library sorted by Artist, and songs by the same artist are sorted by Album. However, with this setup putting something in the Sort Album field doesn't seem to have any effect. Has anyone else come across that problem?
Now, can someone tell apple to release a new version of Bootcamp since Vista is finally officially out? We all need power management drivers if we are going to be using this version of iTunes in windows on our macs. (Yeah, I know the windows vers. of the update is mainly for those standard PC's with XP)
Just opened some 1920 x 1080i HD video footage and selected the new Export to Apple TV option (Default setting).
To my delight the result was superb. The size was 960 x 540.
I exported a 640 x 480 NTSC file too and that was retained at that size. It seems the Export option has built in intelligence and isn't just a dumb preset. More tests to do but so far ... way to go Apple

so that is 540i/24 export or what? I don't know all the skinny on resolutions but shouldn't that 1080i be exported to 720/something to use the best export for the highest that apple tv supports?

Great. But then will it put bands with two names (like Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Pilot Speed, etc) as "Crue, Motley"? What of three-name artists? There are reasons why no one generally does this. It doesn't work for musicians (an address book, perhaps, but not music, too many bands).
Then again, its no matter. I already have "Eat it" as belonging to 'Yankovich, "Weird" Al', so it does me no use at all.
And when are we going to get on Apple's case about storing half of its song metadata separate from the file. Like Apple's 'get cover art' option, which works sort of OK until you move the music to another comptuer, then you have no art. Same with their start/end time settings and various other stuff. Just more proprietary options to keep you locked into the iTunes world.
Apple are already working on this, it will be released as a part of Leopard.. Apple told us this information over a year ago.

All they have to do to fix this is to have browse key off of album artist, only resorting to artist when album artist doesn't exist.
It's almost like a feature committee had this explained to them at one time, understood it, and assigned the feature to a developer. But then everyone involved must have forgotten what the feature was actually for. Yes, they needed an "album artist" tag but then they forgot what the purpose was.
Mail order catalogs, web-sites, radio stations, the iTunes store, brick-and-mortar stores, libraries... they've all figured it out. But yet the iTunes team still lags 50 years behind in adopting a useful browsing schema. Have they even been to a record store?
Can you imagine trying to find each and every song in a store if you had to know the exact combination of artists to find it on the shelf?

As one example, I recently purchased 3 more songs from one of Apple's free-music artists, basically buying the rest of the EP. The free song was track 4, so I bought tracks 1-3. When sorting by Album, track 4 ALWAYS appears before 1-3. Every field is the same between them (artist name, album title, genre, grouping, no disc numbers, with or without album artist, track numbers correct, etc). If I sort by "Album by Artist" it gets sorted correctly. Its like they're sorting by something else that you can't change, which is just really, really irritating.

Really? How did you get the trackpad drivers to install? I'm on my 6th windows install on my new macbook pro, never seeming to find solutions to various issues with compatibility. Right-click is the one killer missing feature (well, that an ctrl-alt-del).
Hey, and here's a real "shocker". Installing itunes for Windows puts the quicktime icon back into the system tray and restores the setting in the registry to autostart quicktime task and iTunes helper every time you boot. This goes along with the inability to have iTunes installed without it insisting on its ipod service to be installed with it (and turned on, no way to disable that sucker - I guess if you dumbed yourself down you could) and its completely non-standard UI.
Apple sure learned quickly on how to make JACWP (just another crappy windows program).

the iStat Pro shows the CPU is around 55 degree celcius?, before it's just around 28 degree celcius
