I was getting all kinds of errors when trying to upgrade to 2.0.
It wouldn't let me restore and I was getting (error 20). I tried several things and then it finally worked when I pressed option and then restored to the newly downloaded 2.0.
Hope everyone can fix their phones if they are stuck. I was in a panic for a while.
Can anyone confirm if this works on unlocked or jailbroken phones? My iPhone is unlocked only
Of course it won't work on jailbroken and unlocked phones unless you no longer wanted it ot be jailbroken and unlocked. But don't worry, Pwnage has already jailbroken and unlocked it. I'm guessing a new update for the app will be available within 12 hours or so. That is a T-minus one day hack.
Has anyone else noticed that when you type in a password on one of the new apps, each letter you key in is in clear text for a second or two before it gets replaced by the black dot? Apps I have tried are MySpace, Facebook and NYTimes.
2.0 Update works fine plus I'm on a Mac the people that need to worry about losing everything is PC Users. I bought games and apps. The best one I like was Free that's the Remote. I just bought the Apple Express Base Station (802.11n) I can control my iTunes but moe importantly I can have the Airport Express connected to speakers in my bedroom and output sound to either my den and or bedroom. I really like that. Apple got me sold and I still got 16GB iPhone 1st Generation. Some people keep talking of other cell phones like it really matters. I got 32,180 songs in iTunes now. I got almost 1000 TV Shows, and 100 Movies. Plus I can hook my phone up to a TV. What else matters?
Note: Some of you with machines that are set up to Auto Open Safe Files may find your iPhone 2,0 Zip file in the trash and the original file unzipped. Remove the Zip file from the trash and then remvoe the .ZIP file extension so it ends with the remaining .IPSW extension.
2.0 is looking good for me. However the damn Google Maps app thinks I am in Chicago whether I use my wi-fi or Edge. I am in Houston. It works just fine everywhere else except my apartment. Odd. It's been doing that for the last few weeks......must be a tower issue or something. The App store has a very broad range of programs. Seems that a lot of people play Sodoku. I am having fun with the light sabre application. All it needs now is copy/paste and MMS. Once that is done, this will be an even better platform. Good job Apple on 2.0.

Maybe, but a Guy in NZ had his say he was in Kansas.

Hey guy. I got my iPhone a few hours ago. Not bad. Still putting it through the paces. I am inclined to think that it is becoming more a phone than iPod.
I was able to restore to 2.0. The iPhone then rebooted as per normal activity and I could see the new layout with the App Store icon.
The problem comes when I try to restore to backup. The backup seems to run smoothly but when it reboots the iPhone, the phone is stuck on the Apple logo screen, a scrolling wheel appears at center, and then the phone begins to buzz twice every few seconds and nothing happens after that. It's stuck.
Rebooting it initiates the same sequence of events: stuck on the logo screen with a stuck scroll wheel at center.
I was able to reboot and enter recovery mode and then tried to option-restore to 1.1.4. but that gave the error: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (20)."
At this point, it seems that something in the backup process (rather than the restoration process) is causing this problem. I can restore the phone to 2.0 fine but I can't restore the backup nor can I seem to downshift versions back to 1.1.4.
As stated, I tried that but it won't let me. I get a "cannot restore" error code in iTunes and it stops the process. Do I need to downgrade my iTunes as well?

You said you tried to restore to 1.1.4, not enter Recovery Mode. They may seem like similiar nomenclature, but the process is very different.
There is no known reason that shouldn't work for you.
Sorry, I should have specified, I did enter recovery mode, then tried to option-restore to 1.1.4. It attempts to extract the software and then gives me this error after: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (20)."
I'm wondering if I should just set this up as a new iPhone and just redo all the settings? The only thing would be recovering my Notes file I suppose.

However, some of the apps have crashed / frozen my phone already, here is my list:
Pandora
Hold'em
WeatherBug
these are all very nice programs, just v1.0. kinks.

If you manage manually, watch out for the update, especially if the music files are not local.

Any suggestions?
Any advice on how to proceed?
Go into Recovery Mode and reinstall 1.1.4.
