Not sure why you have an issue here. There are several third party utilities that allow you to control the systems fonts. One that comes to mind is Tinker Tool, which is free. Of course, Apple should let the user control this feature directly, but all Tinker Tool is doing is unlocking hidden features that Apple turns off by default.

A present, the size of the system fonts, i.e., the fonts used for everything that is not readily controllable by the individual application, is fixed by the physical resolution of the display. Unless you are willing to set the effective resolution to something other than the native resolution, which has numerous undesirable consequences, then system fonts become smaller as the physical resolution of the display becomes greater. This is a ludicrous situation, that Apple should have fixed at the time that they switched to the Unix-based operating system. Until they fix this, one consequence of choosing a higher quality display with greater quantity of pixels and finer resolution, is that system fonts become correspondingly smaller. This is ludicrous, and Apple absolutely must fix this in the next major release of the OS, which hopefully will be concurrent with the new Macbooks.
I've been waiting for about a year now. They were supposed to come out with aluminum Macbooks at MacWorld08, but that of course turned out to be false. I would really love to put an order in for a new MB in the near future.
I just hope there's a sub-$1000 MacBook in the mix. HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc are worried that Apple may move into the upper reaches of that space, and I think Apple should give them reason to worry.
Also, the economy is going in the dumpster in many different ways simultaneously right now, so having a lower-priced product out there would be smart.
Before anyone says it, no, I'm not advocating Apple get into the low-end. But something like an $799-999 MacBook would absolutely kill right now.
And I love the idea of 10 or 13" bright flashy alu nano-like MB's pushing the mobile platform downhill as the iPod Touch pushes things uphill. A nice 8" ebook would be where they would meet!
...don't forget the time required to deal with the cannibalistic zombie problem that always seems to accompany "last-man-in-the-world" scenarios.
Hell, it would just take a few days of total electricity blackout where I'm working for my so-called colleagues to slit my throat and feast on my innards.

Said Nvidia staff are now in a basement dungeon somewhere in Cupertino, awaiting torture by Steve J. By torture, I mean some sort of Clockwork-Orange mindblast featuring mostly Steve Balmer and his ultra-office-chair-violence.

Yup an 8 to 10" Mac Touch would wipe the floor of any other "tiny PC notebook" or so-called "eBook". F*k this Sony and Kindle eBook rubbish. Waste of time and money, if you ask me. If I wanted greyscale I'd go back to my 486 laptop I had in 1991.

It's not just the size, it's the price of those things!

I think that the Tony Smith at the Register has it right about what Apple should do in the smaller laptop realm - http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/10...t_share_boost/

Have no fear! Apple should be ramping up production in its own, state-of-the-art brick factory!

They make a Macbook look cheap.
