Apple doesn't have any patents that would stop other capacitive touchscreen phones coming out. You bet that Samsung are working on a sequal to the Omnia with multitouch.

As is customary with most Nokia phone introductions, the N97 lacks support for AT&T's 3G network.

It supports HSDPA on 900/1900/2100Mhz. Doesn't that cover AT&T?

Personally, I'm looking forward to the N97. The iPhone has too many limitations to satisfy a nerd like me - especially as I've got an iPod touch anyway. I've currently got a Nokia N95 8GB and I'm very happy with it, apart from the lack of a keyboard.

32GB onboard + 32GB microSDHC should be fun.

Folks, we know Apple is listening, they're not re-acting as fast as we'd like, but they are listening.

All this does, is help Apple to decide what features they NEED to come out with. If we all complain enough about features we'd like, and the competition comes out with them, then Apple will give much more serious look at these features.

Apple will get beat to many "cool" features for phones, it's whether or not, these features really matter to folks.

Some features are ? wants, while some features / requests are needs. I believe Apple looks at all of these and decides which is the most important at the time and makes them part of the new iPhone.

If Apple came out with a phone that did EVERYTHING we wanted it to do, WE'D want more with the next new model, because after all, it doesn't do this ? what ever to hell "this" is.

This is good for us and for Apple, so sit back and enjoy the ride, I promise you'll be glad you did.

In case you haven't noticed, Apple stock is a GREAT buy!

Apple should not do anything to encourage porn openly, but speaking as a share holder, Apple should not do anything to prevent whatever use an owner wishes in this area. I totally agree with you, history shows if some iPhone knock off makes porn usage very simple it may do a 'VHS over Beta' repeat.

Thank you, finally someone with a grip on reality.

Porn has been a major drive in technology, if people choose to blinker themselves from that fact then so be it, but spare me the insults.

I was involved in early web porn developments, the servers we used were some of the fastest on the planet, with hundreds of thousands of daily visitors drawing high bandwidth content, it had to be. No other industry came close to the technological demands we had, or had the money sloshing around to drive technology forward.

During that time 90% of search terms were for sex, and not only was it popular, it was VERY VERY profitable, even video conferencing as a technology was pushed forward by sex, and many of todays popular web apps (such as digg and facebook)have concepts that were born from porn some 15 years ago, like it or not, believe me or not.

You are right on point with your post. When 3G came out, we joked that it stood for: Girl, Games, Gaming. It seems that the gaming missed the mark, games are floundering but girls are alive and kicking.

Yes, I did register just to reply to your comments. Many folks here (most?) probably want Apple news. We don't need some creepy forum poster dying to bring up masturbation and porn. Go somewhere else. I don't intend to speak for the rest of the posters here, but is there nowhere we can go without some perv bringing up porn?

Great. Porn makes money. So does crack and prostitution. Porn has corrupted the world, is morally wrong, and endangers my children. I haven't been reading AppleInsider too long, but if people like you are the makeup of this board, I may have misjudged the site.

Jumping off of my soapbox, you are creepy. The fact that you feel the need to equate porn with success is truly what is sad.

Not everyone who looks at porn is"creepy" or "immoral" or "perverted" or"endangers children" or whatever other nonsense you just said. If you are uncomfortable with the human form I'm sorry to say but you are the odd one out.

Porn is a relevant topic, I 'was' having a sensible discussion as to the potential affects porn may have on the adoption of the iphone until you randomly accused me of being "an idiot" for mentioning sex.

I dont believe I have mentioned porn once in the many years I have viewed this site until today.

I have no problem with the human form. It's the EXPLICIT use of the human form. (Do you even know what porn is?) And I called you an idiot for bringing up porn and masturbation, not sex. Porn is no more relevant than slavery or drug addiction.

But hey, you keep telling yourself whatever you need to make yourself comfortable with it. If I'm the odd man out, then thank you.

Really, if that is as much thought as they put into their products, I'll pass.

In case you are still trying to work the volume thing out, its the two buttons on the side of the device. Just like the iphone, which does not even come with a manual.

Anyone who thinks that way about porn is CREEPY!

I think you might want to go somewhere else, Frank, you're weirding us all out.

Sorry pinhead, I was relating these things in reference to the iPhone.

To each his own, and I guess you and your buddy are right, this may not be the board for me. I feel sorry for your spouses, though I'm guessing you don't have one or your wouldn't be a porn fiend. You'd be amazed at what a healthy marriage can do for your lovelife.

    God bless you.

Ever do your sexy wife from behind? How immoral! How'd you find the internet, anyway?

Jody, you should just stop posting about the iPhone.

It's clear that you don't know what you're talking about, and even your resources don't say what you're saying.

The fact that Google has an app on the iPhone that 30-55 year old people don't know how ONE multi touch gesture works doesn't mean most users don't know multi-touch is there.

And another thing, some apps are more important than others.

I defy you to show me a study that says most iPhone users don't know about multi-touch gesture uses on the web browser! (remember, it's not fair to limit the study to old people that have trouble with hi-tech devices)

Let's have a look at that Nokia device and see how you navigate over-sized webpages and understand what you're doing.

And as for the iPhone being all JPegs when it was shown, I'd remind you that Jobs was reported to be in peoples offices actually using the phone. Apple didn't run around propping it up in front of the media to stop the stock from sliding and trying to put a hold on customers fleeing the company like Nokia is doing. Apple was hiding it from view so competitors would keep flailing and guys like Balmer would keep saying stupid stuff that proved they have no idea what they, Motorola, Palm, Nokia and Rimm are talking about.

Spanked and put to bed, see ya Jody. \

You've heard the saying " A man is known by the company he keeps. "

It is reasonably safe to say that pornographers, virus writers, identity phishers, software pirates and spammers are pretty much cut from the same cloth which is why their activities are often interlinked.
