Well, more power to you, Not Unlike Myself. It's absolutely clear that in this day and age of electronic media, talking to a live person still has its advantages. However, you'll have a hard time proving to us that you actually did get information from an Apple employee without signing an NDA unless you share said information with us.

2 words. Call, him. Besides, I already told ya, the info isn't that juicy. Why are we even talking about these anymore?

Sometimes I wish we weren't that efficient. It's like you said. We [Swiss] often take ourselves too seriously.

I believe Apple's advertising strategy is more important to gain the desired market share of 10-20% than the quality of their products. In this regard, the importance of doing great computers is widely overestimated, especially here at AI.

Maybe it would be better for Apple to spend more money on advertising then on R&D. Not for us (the ones who already own Macs) but for potential switchers. This is why I think a general discussion about these clips is very interesting, despite the fact that they are now pulled from Apple's website.

OHMIGOSH...now THOSE are nice spots! Really!

Those of you who've been around AI for a few years have no doubt read my postings where I bitch about Apple's apparent lack of a clue when it comes to making good commercials.

Say what you want about the "quirkiness" or whatever, but, fact is, these five little things trump ANYTHING I've seen Apple put out in three years.

    "Middle Seat" my ass.

These combine coolness, quirkiness and humor...a deadly combination.

It's almost as if Apple read my mind (or perhaps one of my posts?)

Me (for over two years now): "show the hardware, show OS X doing cool stuff, show the iApps, have a sense of humor, be "out there", make the OS and the hardware look 'gotta have it NOW!' cool...", etc.

    Finally, they're getting closer.

There's no reason on Earth Apple shouldn't be running these (and making 5-10 more of them in the same vein, as we speak) and PLASTER the airwaves with them!!!!!

If these aren't released as full-tilt commercials after MWSF, then Apple's marketing truly does have their head up their ass. Surely they didn't just make these for their own jollies and bury them on their website only to found (and enjoyed) by hardcore Mac geeks?

The countdown to me getting really pissed off begins...

IMHO this is the best spot Apple ever did. You need to show the targeted user. This is what I miss most in the "new" clips we disscus here. It is very, very important. Identity is key to Apple's success.

And this is exactely what they did not stress enough in said spots. I'm sure Apple can do better.

Haha, I made a post about these because I got them from someone, not knowing they were all over the place fully a week ago! I thought I was all that... well, whatever, I'm glad to have them! They are very cool but they don't do a whole lot to advertise the product, they're just entertaining. On the other hand, there are a LOT of ads these days that don't do anything but show some abstract images/sounds.

EDIT: Removed about four or five instances of the word "cool."

maybe these are the first "commercials" you see when you are using your iPhone?

Something about these commercials make me think they are geared to small video screens? And also due to a lack on content / context I would think this may be used in a tradeshow-multimedia display. To me these don't work as "ads" but I guess they could be considered teasers.

Maybe this is just a teaser campaign and the real stuff would follow these teasers.

At any rate it beats the Microsoft Tick.

I believe from your observation that these have been made for the Apple stores. To be played there, either on the Big Screen or on the computers or both.

Maybe, but they are structured to be commercials too, especially with the url at the end.

While I am late to this discussion, those of you still clinging to the belief that these might be shown on television someday should consider this:

tv spots are :30 or 1:00 in length.

    "On the Loose" is :50

    "Zoom" is :40

    "Express Yourself" is :20

    "Find Yourself" is :46

    "Junk Mail" is :37

Networks do not sell odd-sized ad spots, and companies do not air them. No doubt these will be seen on the web or at a trade show or store, but you won't be seeing these on television.

What you see right now isn't necessarily what Apple will air on TV (if they do at all.) Those spots can be edited to a certian length. How often do you see minute-long advertisements shortened to thirty seconds? All the time... Apple can do the same with these, stretching or cutting them to fit into a timeframe.

I could see these spots being used within a larger commercial for television. One which acts kind of like a shell, but the kernel it talks about is these itty bitty spots. The main product, of course, would be Apple computers.

At first I thought they were all promoting a new and improved @mac account, but that doesn't account for the url at the end of most of them, promoting OSX.

And, of course, they would all be justified as tools for promoting the switch to OSX, which is inevitable, and probably sooner than we think...

And, of course, full use of this new product would require hardware upgrades, so the commercial you haven't seen yet was the one with Stevie himself handing me a shiny new 1Ghz prototype iBook, on New Years Eve.

Can't wait! What's that Steve? By letting the cat out of the bag (as it were) I don't get one?

    Spoilsport...

a side note... while visiting I watched the sherlock 3 movie, and I realized what an easy way to get information. My favorite is the movies page. I use it before every movie I go to.
