Can you show some proof that most corporate BB users are on Verizon?

I see lots of people with Black Berry Bolds.

Which companies allow employees to change carriers and/or phones if they have a corporate rate with another? RIM's hardware is more expensive than iPhone's? Where is that documented?

Quicktime is more than an app its a media framework that any app can access.

I see a lot of Bolds, too. I didn't realize they were only on AT&T.

I have looked for statistics of cellphone usage per carrier and can't find anything. The best I can find is web stats per phone OS, but of course that shows the iPhone as dominating, and doesn't help with seeing smartphone unit usage per US carrier.

edit: According to Wikipedia, "The five largest (in order of subscribers) are Verizon Wireless (84.6 million), AT&T (77.0 million), Sprint Nextel Corporation (49.3 million), T-Mobile USA (32.758 million), and TracFone Wireless (11.192 million)." We can see how these numbers change in the future. I'm guessing that Verizon and AT&T will grow with the others dropping. AT&T is closer to Verizon than I thought. It looks like Verizon's growth is mostly attributed to the acquisition of Alltel's 14.7M subscribers. It will be interesting to see how thing pan out.

Unfortunately, the legs and head come from two different dogs. The perpetrator was arrested not long after this pictures was taken.

If they do include voice dialing I'm not sure how they could include it without a change to the headphones and the handset. Neither one has an ideal way of accessing the mice while holding a button down to initiate a call.

i don't know why doing it like the moto as above is hard for the iphone, what is it about the OS and organization that makes it require complex work-around to make what i think is simple to happen, like i said my moto v551 only required me to click my BT device, perhaps this app could run in the background but it wan't a power hog on my moto why then is this so complex on the iphone. is it patented by moto, and other phones. come on my moto was speaker dependent and most others even cheapy ones are speaker independent

i just don't understand the iphone limitations for this.

I can't answer any of those questions. Maybe it was patented or maybe Apple just didn't include the chip that makes the press and hold function doable, even with a firmware update. Can the old BT headset even take a firmware update? I know that my iPhone 3G can use Apple's after-market headphones with controls and mic, but can't use the volume controls as the device doesn't have the right capabilities. All the other iPods that came out afterwards can, and now the Shuffle can also FF/RW by clicking then holding, which no other iPod or iPhone can do.

Maybe it's Apple trying to find a different solution or thinking it wasn't something people needed or... There are just too many possibilities at this point.

The silent switch is one of the few physical switches on the iPhone as a sop to business and to venues like movies where they want you to turn off your phone. Given how infrequently it's used by the average person it would be totally workable to have the switch in software only but it's a physical switch so that when a security guard or a cop walks up to you and asks you turn off your phone, that you can't use the excuse of not knowing where the switch is.

One more annoyance that results from our security obsessed, conflict-centred world.

I'm going to have to COMPLETELY disagree with you. I, and most of the people I know that have an iPhone use the switch quite often. I use it for when I'm going to class, to a movie (like you mentioned), to work, and basically whenever my phone isn't in my pocket, which isn't often. Putting something like this in software would just be another 10 seconds or so to do something so simple. We all know how long it takes just to turn on/off wifi or bluetooth. My phone isn't jailbroken, but I do know about how it makes these things quicker/easier.

TBH, I wouldn't mind one more button on the iPhone, maybe by the volume rocker or something, just to add some customization and/or quicklaunch abilities.

ok till the gs gets reviewed i found a solution for voice dialing from parrot, when i called blueant they said their earpiece can store 8 presets with voice command well its a start

i use the one preset from my garmin 360 for "home" i guess as more car kits get their own voice recognition presets are the simple option kensington has 3 presets, magellan gps has 3

    from parrot product discription

    It recognises your voice

The Parrot MINIKIT is designed to simplify calling with your cell phone with user-defined voicetags (max. 150/phone).

It uses its ownvoice recognition feature, not the phone's, so you don?t have to touch your phone while driving.
