I think the fact that Apple is taking their time on this update makes a positive statement for OS X. It means the OS is in good shape, and they don't need to rush anything out to make it better. If they aren't rushing, they're doing it right and that is what I think everybody wants to see.

What's the difference? What's wrong with 10.2.3 that you need 10.2.4?

Oh, is this not the light-hearted having-a-laugh-about-when-10.2.4-will-be-out thread?

    My mistake...

Not all that much, really. But I'd sure like to see some updates to iChat, Finder FTP given upload capabilities, and maybe even a Finder revision.

    Cheers

    That won't happen in 10.2.4

Well, getting rid of the spinning wheel would be a good start!

This update is not taking all that much longer than it took for Apple to move from 10.2.2 to 10.2.3. If you have not noticed, Apple has been taking 5 to 6 weeks for these incremental updates for quite a while now. But wait you exclaim, 10.2.3 was realeased before Christmas! True, but with no inside info, I can assure you, little if any work went on from December 21 through January 5 because of where during the week, Christmas and New Years fell. If you take out your calendar and count out six weeks you will find this week happens to be the sixth week since the week of January 6th. That said, it is still likely to be released before the end of the week.

Lastly, do you really want Apple to release another Hard Drive zapping update?

Yeah, I know. But a man can dream, can't he?

The idea behind my initial comments wasn't to get anyone upset. The dea was that I do look forward to this release for a number of reasons, one of which was additional iChat functionability, but someone said that it wasn't going to be added in this release. It was also pointed out that the Christmas / New Years holiday was a down time for them, and I hadn't taken that into consideration. I fully understand that Apple wants to get things right so no unfortunate hard drive erasures occur. Afterall Apple isn't going to stoop to Microsoft's level and provide horrible updates. I just wanted to know when it was coming out, but now that iChat updates aren't included, I'm no longer concerned about it. 10.2.3 works well enough and I guess I'll just have to do with that. Thanks for all the flaming, and I wish you all a good day.

I'm hoping it will fix the DNS bug. I thought it might be a hardware problem with my computer for awhile but then I read about it in the Macfixit forums. I'm getting tired of every so often getting " Specified server not found ". Once it happens all servers can't be found until you restart.

    It might help!

Why not make ten louder, and make ten the loudest?

Yeah, well these ones go to eleven.

    GREAT MOVIE!

This is one of those times where RAILhead is way off the mark. ThinkSecret is still the only place I give much credance to, though I suspect Maury has the right intentions - just not the right sources in some cases.

Next time it happens I'll try it. Thanks! However these guys at Macfixit sounded like they had tried everything although they didn't say anything about this. It's very unpredictable when it will happen. It could minutes, hours, or days.
