    Just a hunch.

I have a feeling that iLfe '10 will work on the tablet.

Or just someone with a brain.

So yes, Fox News source = lie.

If there is a new version of iLife, is there any free upgrade for those of us who just bought new Macs? I know... probably not...

Why does the tablet have to follow the iWork and iLife monikers at all? iLife is a suite of software that comes with every new mac and can be purchased separately. iWork is a suite of software sold separately.

Thus far Apple has not charged for any of their apps in the app store. If that trend continues, why wouldn't Apple just let you download the apps you wanted instead of a suite of apps? If Apple thought Pages and a paint program were the best programs for use on a tablet, why not release them for individual download? I don't see why it matters what programs come with iWork on OSX when discussing a tablet.

I do think that the reference to iLife was made to a desktop version, and I do think a paint program would fit in better with iLife on the mac. On a tablet, I would not expect it to be part of any software suite.

I guess the only thing of importance here, is that many people would like a paint application for both the tablet and OSX.

    But anyways, HELLO? Tablet???

Sorry to go off topic again but just for the sake of correctness of the record, the original poster I was referring to is vercordio, who made a comment about Fox News. Then it was echosonic who replied to the Fox News comment with a politically-charged response.

Since when does a "source at Apple" speak to anyone in the media a week before a big event?

    Since never.

I'd still like to know what the mass appeal of a tablet is.

Who is asking you to "pony up" again? Did your iLife 08 stop working when iLife 09 came out? Mine was fine. If you think the upgrade is worth the price, you buy it. If it isn't, you don't.

Hey, I just bought a new Mac and yeah, I'm now wishing I'd waited a few more days... but if I have to buy iLife 10, I'll choose to do so if the upgrade is worthwhile for me. Otherwise, iLife 09 rocks (well, for me it's all about iPhoto and the FlickrExport add-on)

    lots of surprises today.

While I don't see myself buying an iSlate for a while I general buy iLife and iWork when they are upgraded.

What I would be looking for during this session is:

    - A "Dual Pack" of both iLife X and iWork X.

    - Some significant integration with the iPhone/touch platforms, as well as an iSlate.

That means Apple stays ahead of developer on their own products.

    - OS 4 sounds interesting - maybe a tri-pack for the iPhoen/touch folks.

And soon after that I believe hat we'll see upgrades to Macs: MacPros, iMacs and MacBook Pros

No, that = your own opinion.

Where's the mods to clean out trash posts like these? Notice how all the name calling in this thread is being carried out by people who 1) hate Fox News (because of their own personal political bias), or 2) condescend towards others who stick up for Fox News (because they hate conservatives). Simply amazes me.

I just want to be able to write and draw on the device effectively, and usefully, and be able to sync the results to my computer or my MobileMe account. I think that's what most people would be happy with (along with the media consumption possibilities), and that's what I expect to be announced.

All this talk of iLife and iWork suites is a sidetrack really.

I think if the Faux news report is accurate and iLife is part of the event, that you are probably right that it has nothing to do with the tablet software. I don't personally see how iLife would be very useful on a tablet as I said previously.

I, with everyone else, will be anxiously awaiting for what goodies are unveiled next Wednesday.

One thing I haven't seen talked about as much is Mobile Me - I have no doubt, esp. if there is a new version of iLife/iWork, that there will be an update to Mobile Me. Doubly show if they do launch the new tablet.

For all the crap they got on the roll-out (and I realize it did affect some, but not all of us!) Mobile Me is really nice. The integration and fluidness with which everything works is awesome. It's a typical Apple solution in that it just works, and it's easy to predict that it will play a central roll with the tablet, and more of a roll with iPhone OS 4.

    More good stuff!

Absolutely, my first thought too. (And Murdoch thinks we should pay for his content as it's better than blogs etc).

BUT this is Clayton Morris. So... worth listening too.

iLife was updated a year ago, but you're right that the last 2 versions had 18months between them.

Still, it desperately needs an update to handle the latest hardware. iPhoto, iMovie both barely use 20% of the iMac i7 speed, and it's all still 32bit.

Do you really think iPaint would be part of iWork? Maybe. Actually, if they offered an "iPage" which merged word processing, spreadsheet, and drawing/painting.... that would be interesting.

I disagree. Anyway the invitation said "Come see our latest creation (singular)," not "creations."

I "serious" apps I mean document creation apps. Apps where you actually get work done instead of just killing time.
