Well, 135 MPH was fast, but 120 MPH in "valley fog" is even scarier...There were contrails of condensed vapor at the edge of my hood.

speed is relative. it depends on yer reaction time and how well u can handle the vehicle and how used to it u are. 120 is nothing for me...breaking 140 is prolly where i have to start trying and really concentrating...

but i know people who can barely control 90...

it just depends on the driver.

which is why i think speed limits are amusing...some people can be going faster, and some people should be going slower than the limit...

    oh well

I know people who shouldn't drive over 55, for that matter. Speed IS relative, and you can feel really unsafe going 70 on a web road, through a corner, just like you can feel rock-solid in some cars over 100mph.

    I drive a volvo 440.

    It's green.

Whatever. I didn't even pay more than 100$ for it

I'll down my money on other things than cars, thanks.

Last I checked it was either a Mercedez SLK or a Yugo Cabrio with trick suspension. My instincts are pointing me toward the latter...

it depends also of the car you drive. With some car 120 mph is a suicide, for others car

    140 is a just a cruise speed.

    J:

I've got two V-1s. Been 137 MPH in my (ex) MB300E. Faster in my 1976 Chevy Scottsdale Step-side short bed pickup with tweaked 350 in the National Forest somewherez near the Porcupine mountains in the Upper Pininsula of Michigan. No traffic for 90 miles! Now, I've got two Dodge Caravans (3 kids) and a Jeep Cherokee. Always wanted to own a Syclone/Typhoon, too!

Have you been tempted to reconsider your choice of Radar detectors based on recent reviews and/or ads? I see that the V-1 got beat in some measurements. But I think the threat count/direction is the feature to beat. But, have you see the ad at least in this month's Motor Trend on the RD with GPS integrated into it. Scott Valentine would do good to take the best features that adding GPS could offer.

One of the BMW salesman here in Indy who had an older M3 I met said he used to work for Valentine when he made a G-Force computer to show the driver how smoooth their turn ins were on the track.

I want one of the upcoming Nissan 350Zs so bad. I've had a couple of Zs - a '71 240 and a '78 280. One of my best friends still has the black 280 which I sold him for 500 bucks about 12 years ago. Its sitting in a barn in a field in Kansas right now. He's still got a '77 280 and purchased a 91 300Z Twin Turbo a few years back - silver, black leather, t-tops etc. Sharp car.

On the other hand, my 97 Jeep Wrangler is great. Drove it off the showroom floor and across the country. Its paid for and I can't rationalize buying a $30,000 sports car (no matter how hard I try).

eh...maybe in a couple years I'll get one. I don't think I'd buy one used. Something like that I'd want to buy and keep till I die.

And...since this is a car thread, I'll once again post a link to my NYC auto show iMovie for those who may not have seen it. Warning: kinda big and there are too many Porsches and not enough concepts...oh well I forgot the extra batteries for my DV cam sosumi. (19MB).

yes, that is me in front of the Z. (shoulda edited that part out eh?)

Golly, it looks like a true and valid (stolen) jpeg to me. Something must be broken.

I guess that's the bad karma I get for referring to the Turbonium when my beetle isn't a turbo.
