This is for web browser page hits, not unit sales. iPhone OS browser shits will also register from the millions of iPods out there. You aren't proving anything related to our topic, as you labeled this OS market share, which is incorrect. This just shows that people are more like to use an iPhone OS device for browsing the web.
So what you are saying is, that in a country with zero Apple stores, all the stores that sell Apple stuff are idiots? Maybe you should notify Apple of this issue so they can solve this issue at once!!!
Well, actually, that is what was wrong with the USA, so Apple addressed it. They are slowly expanding that strategy to the other countries.
Steve loves his users enough that he built 300 stores for us. He did it for our convenience and because he wanted Apple to give stuff to its customers. I'm not sure that he can do it for the whole world. Not even Steve can save the whole world.

But the point that was missed, is they cannot, and will not do this in all regions, and all areas in those regions. So if, as the poster claimed, the third party resellers are "idiots", then Apple should do something about it.
Now, I don't believe these resellers are idiots, I purchased a Mac Mini from one, and they were very nice to deal with, but they were empty then, and empty every other time I have gone in there.
In what? The screen? No. The camera? No. Build quality? Don't make me laugh. Storage? Nopes. Thinness? Sorry, no. Speed? Hell no. Froyo might have made things even, but that's it. Not about the battery either.
So please tell me where Android phones beat the iPhone. Please.
Without a doubt speed. Camera yes and I see nothing wrong with built quality. Its not my Evo on the news regarding antenna issues.
Oh and by the way I can actually stream Flash content. Go figure.
They are the second-largest computer company in the world. Their unit shipments dwarf those of Apple.
But all we care about is Apple, so it is easy to miss what is going on in the world around us.
Hate to burst your bubble of meaningless stats but Acer may be the second largest in terms of unit shipments but by most other metrics are also rans...
For the first half of 2010, Apple made 3x as much revenue and 25x as much net income as Acer. Apple makes better margins from iTunes (at 5%) than Acer does from it's entire PC business.
Acer are a shipper of mostly bargain basement PCs, lots of netbooks with razor thin margins and are as much a threat to Apple as Palm...
No delusion. I could drive to the closest dedicated Apple retailer, and it will be empty, just as it always is. And the last time I was at a real Apple shop, the majority of people were browsing websites. If I purchase Apple products the majority of the time I will use the online store.
Deluded or not, your desperate Apple hating is absurd. Old school Apple specialists are being replaced with Apple Stores. Apple Stores are the most revenue generating chain stores in the world. Apple Store 5th Avenue, NYC makes twice as much per square foot as Tiffany's round the corner. To pretend that Apple's stores aren't the most effective and successful retail execution in the past 10 years is to live in la-la-land. Your personal observations notwithstanding of course...

Can you back that statement up with data because I would love to see those stats.
Incl. Apple 5thAv NYC, $35K psf vs. Tiffany $18K (at most)
Apple's retail adventure is undeniably world class by all performance metrics. Retail consultants pretty much all point to it as best practice in fitment, staffing, performance, etc.
To be fair, your Evo has never been on the news for any reason... nice phone but only nerds give a crap. Nor do most people care about Flash.
Keep on trucking.
Yes of course. The fact that most streaming uses Flash very few people care about it. If people didn't care about Flash then it would be dead by now and its far from dead. Its more like Apple only fanboys have been lead to believe no one cares about Flash because SJ doesn't care about Flash and is trying to control content. I am not an Adobe fan but I am a fan of being able to view any content I want on the internet and not have it controlled by Steve Jobs.
If I buy a device I should have the option to install a plugin on my device.

"? Apple's total sales in 2001 were $5.4 billion. Apple Stores this year: $6.6 billion. (Apple's total sales this year were $36.5 billion.)"
So am I reading this correctly. In close to ten years Apple only increased its retail store revenue by 1 billion? Wouldn't that prove the point that indeed most shopping for Apple is still done online seeing total sales were 36.5 billion.

Where did you get Apple hating out of my statement? Oh, that's right, I said something that you disagree with, so under the Appleinsider rules I am an Apple Hater. Maybe it is you that should move out of la-la land.
I never said anything about the effectivness of the stores, I didn't say anything about how much they sold, I statement an observation I made when I entered several of them, all the computers were being used by people browsing the internet.
If I buy a device I should have the option to install a plugin on my device.
You do have the option ... it's called jailbreaking ....so jailbreak it and move on already. You know what the real problem is don't you? You're not content to "solve your problem" this way .... you want Apple to make a device (whose demand is already outstripping supply) to be what you and a small minority of others think it should be. Extreme, I hate to break it to you, but you don't represent the majority of consumers, and neither do I, for that matter.
Buy it ... don't buy it ... but stop whining about why Apple is Apple. Most of us are happy with them just the way they are, thank you very much.
If I buy a device I should have the option to install a plugin on my device.
why "should"? because you are dictator of the world? because some law says so? because everything should be like what you personally want?
or "should" you be simply responsible yourself to choose products that meet your personal requirements, and stop expecting everyone to cater to your convictions and desires?
yes, Apple is arrogant and their attitude is "take it or leave it." so ... leave it. but please stop whimpering about it.

No you aren't. In 2001, Apple's total sales (including online and the first newly opened retail stores) was 5.4B. Apple made nearly 7x that in total sales for the most recent year used in that article. Just the sales from Apple's retail stores are now 1B greater than what Apple made as a company 9 years ago. I don't think anyone in this thread has claimed most of Apple's sales happen in the Apple store, the claim was that the Apple stores are one of the biggest money making retail stores around, which they are.

Of course, if one of the things you will be doing a lot on your new computer, iPod, iPhone or iPad is browsing the web, it would be a good idea to see how the browsing experience is while you are looking at the computer. Are some people just using the free access to check some email or something? Probably.

Anyone who has a trademark must defend it against everyone and anyone-- otherwise they set a precedent and lose ownership of the trademark.

I think hill60's sarcasm may gave been a bit too subtle.......

steve our master gave us at least 5 miracle products
with one fantastic lean mean SW os to tie them all together.
My buddy had to buy his wife and kids computers for school << grades 10th thru 2 yr college >>
5 in total /
He bought 5 MB white plastic base models.
got 5 free touches base models no upgrades.
and then 2 ipads for the college kids and 3 160g classic ipod for wife and the younger ones .
Some one at apple sent an extra box for his family filled with goodies like t shirts stickers and stuff. All 5 MB were pre installed with free SW.
Suck in the bottom of the case was a handwritten card stating
>>THANK YOU FROM APPLE <<.
Apple understands that taking great care of its clients is good for APPLE.
why you hate apple so much and need to throw oil and sand in our eyes daily is beyond me.
peace

I know what you are saying.
We ordered some Chinese takeaway a few days ago for whole IT team and got some free springrolls and dumplings.
Hell yea!
