Now instead of crapping out after a few seconds it's just saying "Waiting". I'd actually consider that an improvement :) Anyway, probably best to just give up and try again in a few hours.

Waiting on my Up-to-date email from Apple.  Hopefully the code comes soon.

I never have problems when I upgrade.  So I don't mind being a "Beta".  The only Application I use outside of OS X is Filemaker and the only one my wife uses is Photoshop Elements.

People, do we really need 100 posts about your difficulties downloading this because Apple's servers are getting hammered??

Just chill. If it doesn't work, wait a few hours. Or a day.

You are unbelievably lucky, considering that several releases since then were known to cause data loss.

10.8 does seem to be ok, other than failing to fix two critical bugs from 10.7 - PowerPC apps are still broken, and the arrows at the end of the scroll bars are still missing.  Those are real showstoppers as far as many of my customers are concerned, since they're more concerned with actually being able to work than with the new eye candy.

Agreed. I really don't like that anywhere.

I have 3 or 4 Macs that I'll upgrade to Snow Lion or whatever it's called,  Remind me if there is any way to do that without having each computer download the installer independently?  Seems more than a little inefficient (and may interfere with my kids' Minecraft and Skype obsessions).

Download the installer on one mac, quite the upgrade, copy installer to other mac's, run installer. You can do this with up to 5 machines.

Can't read the title of this page or any article written about it since its announcement?

Download the file once, copy it everywhere.

Yep it charges the sales tax that you would have been charged if you bought a physical copy in the city that you live

Apple removed the Rosetta environment (to run PPC Applications) in Snow Leopard three years ago in 2009. Maybe consider upgrading your applications to universal binaries or intel.

If you want scroll bars in Lion or Mountain Lion, go to systems preferences and set the scrolls bars to always show. System Preferences > General.

Rocket science it is not. :-D

So glad VAT is already added in the UK - by law, if I'm not mistaken.

Would someone who has finished the download and installed the OS (I realize that may take a while) please confirm the Build Number?

The article mentions Facebook integration.  I thought they had said that the Facebook integration was not going to be in at launch but would debut this fall, in other words, alongside similar integration in iOS 6.

I'm fine letting other people work out the bugs.  I need to format my external drives and shift over my iTunes directory and such before I upgrade to Mt Lion this weekend.  Of course, I'm also broke till payday on Friday :)

Many of your customers need to get software that wasn't abandoned in 2006. And the scroll bar arrows are never coming back. Get new mice and learn to scroll without clicking.

What bugs me is that you can upgrade Snow Leopard->Mountain Lion, but you couldn't go Leopard->Lion directly, forcing you to buy the intermediate release.  Apple wouldn't even give me a free copy of SL when I wanted to pay them for Lion.  I understand it's a software thing with their MAS, but it doesn't make sense that those who skipped Leopard eventually pay more than those who (tried to) skip Snow Leopard.  Yes, don't tell me I'm a whiner, and it's only $20, but I feel they missed a customer touch point to make it seamless.  I've already sold my SL, so I don't really care, I still end up even, but nonetheless it was a hassle.

    But they did do that.
