1.1 million Xbox's shipped so far, a little ahead of Nintendo, not too bad. Seems people are buying more Xbox games on average with their new system than those buying game cubes as well.

It was virtually impossible to buy an XBox without 3 (or more) games, dude. Of course the game attach rate was high. I think the most telling tale of popularity so far has been the fact that Nintendo has gone ahead and released the number of units actually sold to customers and not a "shipping" claim. Also, back before the launches, places like Amazon sold out of GameCube preorders much faster than XBox preorders despite having more available. They sold out of GameCubes in 4 minutes vs. 30 minutes.
At the moment, Amazon is currently out of GameCube stock. They do have XBoxes. I'm still waiting for NPD/TRST to come out with its data...which unfortunately does not include big chains like WalMart.
According to every store I went to in San Antonio, the xbox just isn't as popular... While I beleive him in San Antonio I DO see that it is not the case in other regions but I do think the GC is far more fun. I was finally able to obtain one and am going out to get a second controller this afternoon so my wife and I can play Super Monkey ball together.
The Gamecube is an excellent machine. It puts the XBox (crappy, low-end PC) to shame. XBox proponents may point to better theoretical performance of its components, but where it really counts (in the performance of the games), the Gamecube is totally superior. Plus, I've heard that the PIII inside of the XBox overheats and can be damaged really easily. No self-respecting Mac user should support Microsoft, especially in their bid to monopolize another consumer market. Nintendo all the way!
My main beef with the xbox is this... Durability. Microsoft has nothing on Nintendo's virtually indestructable products. A friend of mine had hiss xbox for three days... his dog came running in the house and knocked it off the table. It fell 3 feet and was rendered unusable. He took it to get serviced and abandoned it because it was friggin expensive to fix it. It's too fragile.
Oh, man, another vote for the Gamecube. My friend just bought one on tuesday and we have played it near constantly since its arrival. SSBM and Rogue Leader and Monkey Balls are so bloody addictive....
The X-Box has nothing on this cube...

Microsoft announced 1.1 million units shipped on the 9th.
Nintendo announced 1.1 million units shipped yesterday, but Nintendo has also gone haed and announced that they've sold over 800,000 units. Microsoft is still dragging its feet with a 'units sold' number.

I just have Gotham Racer and DOA3
NFL Gameday 2001
NFL Gameday 97
NFL Gameday 98
NFL Gameday 99

You like mediocre football games, don't you?
Madden all the way, though Madden 99 and earlier were kind of behind the curve. Sega's NFL 2K2 is good too, but it plays like an arcade game to me.

dude, whatever you and your wife do in the privacy of your own home is your own business -- whatever you decide to call it.
