If the kettle calls the pot black, it's right.

(hint: kettle = copper, pot = iron).

MOSR seems to operate on the same principle that tabloids do: You publish a good-sounding story as soon as you can, and if you're right then you just got a scoop. If you're wrong, well, they are just rumors. I still remember when they predicted that the B&W G3s would debut at speeds up to 550MHz...

The last time the forums were up, AI had updated so slowly for so long that most of the forum members just went straight here without even looking at the front page, and as a result when AI did update, it was sometimes a day or two before anyone in the forums noticed! The <a href="http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/0006/multi-button.shtml"; target="_blank">foot in mouse</a> article didn't do wonders for their cred either. Time will tell with the new AI.

The rumors I really sit up and pay attention to come from <a href="http://appleturns.com"; target="_blank">As the Apple Turns</a>. They don't get into the game often, but when they do, look out. <a href="http://www.macuser.co.uk"; target="_blank">MacUser UK</a> is pretty good, and <a href="http://maccentral.com"; target="_blank">MacCentral</a>, of all places, has broken the occasional scoop as well.

I gotta side with Murk on this too...it is amazing how obsessed people are here with MOSR. Meader may (or may not) have a bad track record, but his site is entertaining.

And as an aside....[edit - removed because my criticism here was based only on one somewhat hostile post in this thread and my (possibly faulty) memory]

yeah... AtAT is the best rumors site, and they don't bill themselves as one. They are almost always right.

I want to know who their sources are, because I don't think little birds know that much about Apple's future plans. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

I couldn't agree more. I think they've always been (even with no rumors) much more entertaining to read than MOSR.

    1. MOSR is just another rumer site and is no worse.

    2. The fact is that it does recieve some accurate information, probably more than most.

    3. It is a RUMOR site so not everything is correct.

    4. It seems to me that EYERYONE who has slagged of MOSR reads every post, well if it so bad why?

[quote]Im gonna stand with Murk on this one. I frankly couldnt care less if MOSR got everything or nothing right. Its fun to read, speculate, and debate about. All you guys ragging on MOSR need rane in the horses, becuase all MOSR has ever done is post some rumors sent to it by their sources. Who gives a **** if there true there are still fun to debate. You guys act like Ryan Meader ran over you grandmother or something. <hr></blockquote>

Thanks for the support. You shouldn't make jokes about accidents like that, though. My Grandmother was the victim of a hit and run while vacationing in Maine. Hey? wait a minute? Meader lives in Maine. When I called the psychic, Miss Cleo, looking for clues to the culprit, all she would say was "The details have been embargoed, Maaaan." It?s all finally coming together. That bastard! I take back everything I said in his defense. Maybe I shouldn?t ever read MOSR again. Then again, Granny was a peecee user and firmly in the Microsoft camp.

Well it is still down and I am a little sad. I miss ole' Ryan and wish he would post some more bullshit. Perhaps his servers were deep down in Tora Bora.

COME BACK RYAN WE MISS YOU!

    Murk -

    Great sense of humor!

It is fun reading MOSR, just like it is reading these posts. I do grow tired of MOSR's excuses though...

I can just hear it now when they come back online:

"Sorry about that folks but we ran into a serious kernal problem with our Mac OSX server but it should be fixed now due to oure friends at Apple who have been helping out. Also, we plan to get the next reader mailing out to you in no time we just are having a lot of trouble sending emails right now for some reason but our friends at Apple are helping so keep on sending us money so we can dish you dirt! By the way we have a great story we are working on right now, we are just putting the finishing touches on it and patiently waiting for The Register to post another story so we have something to go on...."

That pretty much sums up MOSR in a nutshell. Remember when MacUser UK posted that Apple was releasing a iBox2DVD set top device and MOSR comfirmed it right away. Then it was revealed to be a screw up by MacUser UK where they got iDVD2 and a DVD burner device from another company mixed up. Good times.
