Would they have made a big screen phone if that spec didn't matter?
Oh, stop. You know full well he was referring to specs in general mattering, especially as a justification to call a product "better" than its competition. Apple makes products that seem to be more than the sum of their parts. That has been their model. What he's saying is that Apple has never tried to go spec by spec or feature by feature. They focus on upgrading them over time, but are more intently focused on the overall user experience through design, look, feel, etc.
I can easily point to half a dozen tablets with "better" specs and features than the iPad. Yet, there is no "tablet" market. There is an iPad market with iPad alternatives. This proves exactly what I'm saying. The iPad doesn't have a kickstand or a USB port or a removable battery or the best camera. But it's design, features, interface, specs, software and brand appeal all make it what it is. That's the point.
Is it just me being tired or is this article giving those with no grasp of the English language the opportunity to show off? I've not even finished reading page one of comments yet and have struggled to understand about 25% of what's been typed.
Sales 101: NEVER sell by belittling your competition. It makes you look so desperate and pathetic. It's astonishing that nobody @ a corporation the size of Samsung gets this. In the end they're doing Apple a favor. It really does make Samsung look bad.
I agree with this in areas such as business system solution selling where you would look utterly desperate. However, for consumer devices costing a couple hundred £ anything goes, always has done & always will

It's probably a combination of those things plus the fact that Huddler has a habit of turning what you wrote into gobbledygook.
Question 1: How could Apple release a phone of ANY size without Samsung claiming that they just copied what they did?
Question 2: When will Samsung be copying Apple by releasing a large phone so popular that it takes out, not only their own ordering systems, but that of carriers as well?
haven't you missed off some 9" offerings? Pretty sure there are or were some tabs that were 9"

Then tell me what would've happened if Apple had made the IPhone 6 only 4"? Truth be told a lot of people didn't care about design, UX, UI, and brand appeal. They wanted a bigger screen, and went with who was making one. Apple may not have competition in the tablet market, but they most certainly do in the smartphone one. Which is why they made a device that SJ said no one wanted to buy.
It's possible they may have wanted it, only to get buyers remorse if the end result was unusable due to ergonomics (UI design, sheer bulk, cost, etc.). That is the entire definition of buyers remorse. Regretting a purchase after the fact, either due to guilt, or to unforeseen negatives. Apple typically doesn't have a problem with being impulsive. Samsung on the other hand has put out a footprint for just about every size imaginable in an apparent attempt to see what 'works'.
I suppose either method works, although the Samsung method looks rather spastic and expensive in both cost and reputation to me, judging by the image posted by GTR above.
Of course, Steve Jobs said that he would destroy Android. And Jobs refered to Andy Rubin, the founder of Android, as a %u201Cbig, arrogant f**k,%u201D and Android itself as a %u201Cf**king rip off of what we%u2019re doing.%u201D

What would happen? Well what happened when Apple released the 4" 5S? It still sold a lot of units.

I'm not denying it would've sold a lot of units, but I think a good amount of people would've been disappointed. This is the second time Apple has done what the people wanted versus showing them what they want. How are they going to change it in 2 years? Thinner? Bigger?

Second time? Hyperbole much?
Why do people expect Apple to change the world every year or two? As for two years from now, you're just focused on physical design. That is an error in thinking.

That's the danger of changing the world. People expect you to do it again, and again. A error in thinking doesn't stop a multitude of people from thinking it. You know full well the gnashing of teeth that would've taken place had they not made a bigger iPhone. And yes the second time, the iPad mini being the first. Now it's 2 devices SJ basically said weren't good ideas.
Consider which phone is plastic, has a pentile display, and has to throttle down its CPU. Consider which phone wins JD Power awards every year, and has the highest customer satisfaction ratings year after year.
That collective howl that you hear is the product of Apple devotees having been wapped in the pee pee by Tim Cook and his adoption of a form factor most akin to a 5.5" device introduced by Samsung in 2012.
I'll be purchasing the iPhone+ and the Note 4. I ain't gonna be giving up my stylus. It might just be possible that there are 2 companies that are producing outstanding products.
I think back to the recent past when my daily driver was a 5.5" Note running 4g while Apple multitudes settled for a 3.5" experience and a clearly inferior 3g speed. And all the while claiming some intangible superiority in the battle of the mobile devices. Jeesuz.
Samsung rocks. Look at the specs alone way better than the iPhone. Also when apple was making ads trashing PCs everything was cool and nice now that samsung is doing it it hit some nerves. Accept it the Note 4 is a better phone period.

Samsung makes good products, especially the Note. But as has been discussed, it's not all about specs. This is what company after company can't seem to figure out. The mass market does not inly care about specs...they care about the total, product experience.
Comparing Apple's previous ads to Samsung's is silly. Yes, they poked fun. But that was never the crush of their strategy. They focused on great products and telling people about the,. Poking fun was secondary.

Sorry I'm only interested in 64 bit phones, like the PC's I've had a few years now.

I doubt it.

Keep your old fashioned 32 bit junk.
