At last they found a use for the guy in Microsoft who made the Zune in the brown color.

The moment Apple confirmed and showcased their watch, is the moment MS' watch fantasies ran aground in the rough sea of reality.

Microsoft can launch it TOMORROW, and no one will really care. Just like it is with their entire mobile lineup.

I can't get the image out of my head ... a Micky Mouse watch only with Ballmer and his arms swinging round ... It's like a nightmare!

The alarm goes "developers developers developers!"
And there are sweat stains under his armpits.

The brown background one on the right really makes the thing look gorgeous....

wow, in fashion accessory, there is 'understated' and there is just plain ugh.

This is only a pacifier for Apple haters (who may be feeling a bit conflicted at not being on technology's edge, where they fancy they belong).

And yeah, I do have a coworker (with at least one relative employed in Redmond), who has told me point-blank: "I hate Apple. I just... hate them."

I'm far from convinced that the Apple Watch will be a success, but there's no threat from a Microsoft watch. The only brand with enough potential loyal customers to make a smart watch truly successful is Apple. I'm one of those customers. 30+ years. And I have zero desire for an Apple Watch. It's very hard for me to imagine any company turning the smart watch into a must have item.

Hopefully they've included the "Start" menu and the full Office productivity suite

    Embarrassing.

How do you know what Microsoft's attempt is?    Those images above are concepts that DID NOT COME from Microsoft.   They're someone's guess.

The fact is that anyone who is commenting on the quality of Microsoft's offering is trolling.   You have no idea whether Microsoft's attempt will be good, bad or indifferent.

Microsoft's watch may indeed wind up being another piece of crap that no one wants, but the fact remains that we simply don't know.

    Hey, Clippy...where am I?
Cortana: I don't know - Excel is still loading...and stop calling me Clippy!

There's a ton of hurt ready to drop on one of these products.

and if you do not install Anti-Virus the watch will suck the life blood out of you. Of you could catch Ebola.

Just what the world needs: another half baked unfinished MS product, racing to the bottom again.

Excellent point. Let me rephrase that to include doing HW and SW really well. Not that you said it, but do you think it's healthier for MS and Google to use the approaches they have? It seems that only Samsung has had success in the Android world, I'm not sure if MS's latest phones are making them any money or can be called a success, ditto for the Fire phone.

I believe the MS brand is the problem here. We have very little details about an MS watch but because it's from MS (and forgetting that this is an Apple centric board) our expectations is that it will suck, and suck well.

How great can a product be when it has been rushed to completion just to beat a competitor to the market? This (like the Surface) will be a flop.
